Hi all, looking to get a roof rack soon with a roof top tent! i just want to know if my 1997 land cruiser can handle it!! i have a dobinson mrr 3 inch lift kit with the heavy springs all around! the roof rack will most likely be a sherpa The La Sal. The Roof top tent will be around the OPENROAD Aluminum Hard Shell Roof Top Tent-PeakRoof LT Series. Can it handle the weight being thrown at it with those gutter mounts?

The roof rack says it is rated for 300 lbs. Dynamic and 700 lbs. Static.

The tent is 161 lbs. I think it is fine.

I have the same question. I recently sold my ARB full size aluminum basket rack and am wanting to throw a lower profile rack on with the hopes of accommodating a RTT.

But I can’t find any reliable information about the weight limits supported by the gutters.

That roof rack looks nice, however it doesn't seem to spread out the weight during the full gutter length. Might not be an issue, but there are other racks that have that same low profile but have more surface area on the gutters. Bowfin and prinsu come to mind.

I have a hard shell roof top tent on a bowfin cruisers rack and it handles it just fine including some bouncing around on some very very bumpy stuff in the mountains.

Just installed a sherpa on a customers rig . I my fat a$$ was up on it walking around . If your gutters aren't rusted they are very strong . A word of advise. Lay it out and build it on the ground get all the cross beams set for the tent and anything else your planning to put on it . It is beyond a major pain in the butt to do that while on the rig . It's a complex rack allow yourself a lot of time
