Is this oil pressure normal?

Looking at buying an ‘05 LX470 from an individual. Took it to Lexus for a pre purchase inspection. Everything checked out great. On the way back to the owners house I noticed what appeared to me to be low oil pressure but am not sure. Here is a pick at a stoplight after driving for about 10 mins. And yes, tach is at zero but the car is running, owner said tach works about 1/2 the time, is that common? Everything else works i.e. speedometer, gas, etc.

Anybody know if that’s low or normal for these motors?

Thanks for the feedback, hoping it’s normal, been really wanting one of these for a long time!

Yup that's normal. There is a small section of people on here who swear that it's bad, and consequently put in heavier grade oil to bring it up, but most highly qualified mechanics say that higher usually indicates a lack of free flowing lubrication in the engine due to some type of blockage, which is not good.

Completely normal. If you were to put an actual mechanical gauge on it ....you would have 20-25 psi at idle. Plenty of oil pressure for these engines. Not to mention the 2UZ-FE engines are very easy on oil to begin with.

Normal. Mine is like this at operating temperature and is fine. I've seen them all over the place. The only thing that worries me is high pressure.

oil looks spot on, however my temp is lower, always.
That is a good point about the temp, I'd be interested to see a Torque ECU temp number, I think mine is 193-4, as i recall.

The temp needle is a lil above center on my 01 is just like the ops. My Scanguage show's normal operating temp of 185-190ish.

If the oil level gauge points to almost "L" when idling, but normal when driving, is that still normal? (Underhood oil dipstick shows full level.)

Yes, normal. Give it no further thought. And the gauge on your dash is the oil pressure...not oil 'level'.

I can assure you....unless you have a bad oil filter, you have plenty of oil pressure at idle. I know the gauge shows what appears to be a rather low pressure mark...but you will have around 20 psi oil pressure at idle (plenty) and the pressure should rise with an increase of engine speed.

Anyone still out there years later... my oil pressure guage seems to sit on right on L but i noticed it rise then drop straight down again. Is that a bad connection or something..

Mine did the same as mentioned in previous posts... pretty much stayed on 1/4 pressure and never moved. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit and it went back to reading "normal"... meaning fluctating as expected with vary RPM's. Much happier now and piece of mind seeing it work as intended.

Did you use any sort of Teflon tape on the threads?

Honestly I can't remember if I did or not. It was many years ago. I do need to change the oil this weekend and will look and see if I can tell.
