Not if you drive on gravel roads. I read also that it helps keeping the cooled air within the engine realm.Since many cruisers don't seem to have these covers what are their purpose? Seems like an unnecessary expense.
Seems that people are not putting them back on.Since many cruisers don't seem to have these covers what are their purpose? Seems like an unnecessary expense.
There you go!Seems that people are not putting them back on.
1) to keep the air from the fan moving to the block
2) to keep road splash off the fan belts
3) to keep sticks and debris out of the engine compartment
4) because mr T thought it was necessary
Or it is totally rusted as in my case...Yeah, I'm sure it's just a part that's being left off by people from previous work. I will chime in to add though, the two "side covers", 51443 and 51444, are not fitted to all vehicles out of the factory. On my 1996 HZJ80, both those parts are listed as "Not Applicable" for example. In all regions, 51444 was dropped from August 1992, while 51443 was dropped from January 1995. That front cover however, was fitted to all models in all years, so if your vehicle is missing it, a mechanic or PO left it off sometime in the past.
I did not need to unbolt anything to get this to go in. I really wanted it to prevent road splash from getting on the engine harness, especially the sensors underneath the intake.Yeah me too. I just unbolted the steering stabilizer frame bracket and installed it.
