My 73 never came with hood hooks to hold the windshield down. I was able ot track down the hooks, but that is it and they seem to need something to secure them when not in use. Is there a hook or catch that hold the hooks secure on the hood when not in use?
The first post was a better answer I don't have those on the top of my hood windshield hooks would sit. But I know what to look for now, thanks. Those look like "extra" parts in your collection.
76 and later hoods have the hooks on the windshield rests that bolt to the hood. The earlier hoods have the hook keepers (?) welded to the hood. Maybe you have a later hood on your 73. Using the newer windshield mounts will work if you drill holes to mount them in the right place. If you have a newer hood than you'll need to change your windshield hinges to the newer type for the windshield to fit the mounts.

does your hood have the bolt holes where the parts might've been? is it a split hood or one piece? just wondering if someone swapped on an early hardtop hood or 45lv...they didn't have provisions for the w/s to fold down.
OH CRUD! I see how they go. I guess the only thing I can do is get some squared off U-bolts and use those in place of the triangle hood latch or maybe an "O" lag bolt? Damn that is ghetto. Then I still need the bumper for the windshield.
Since I can't see and it looks like they look wleded, or am I not seeing how they are attached to the hood since mine has the 3 bolts you indicated (2 for the hooks an one I guess where the catch went)? Is there any way for someone parting out a jacked up hood to cut out the catches or cut out chunks of a hood and I coulg cut them off and weld them to my hood?
1) find a trashed hood and drill out the hook retainer (they are spot welded in three spots) than bolt them in and replace the hardwear...or.....
2) or find the later set-up in post #11 and be done with it.
3) leave it be...as cool as it looks ....its a PITA to drive off road in the woods with the windshield down...its a PITA to drive on road with the windshield down...i have only driven with mine down 4-5 times in over 17 years.
