Got the hazard light switch working! One more thing off the punch-list... I was able to find a switch from an '81 (so it has the red triangle instead of just saying HAZARD), but lucky for me the connectors were compatible. Had to recondition the switch with some searching on the forums here, but job done! Ill get some pics of the engine tomorrow during the day for y'all to take a gander.

Post some pics under the hood. We can probably tell you pretty quickly if you'll pass the visual for smog equipment. Does it have a catalytic converter?
Looks like no cat from what i can see. Here’s the engine bay:

Engine bay looks very similar to my old South American '78.
It also had no smog equipment or hook ups for smog equipment. Not sure the smog system can be retrofitted to an SA truck?

biggest miss is the air pump. too bad I just sold a complete 1978 takeout 2F (from a FJ55, but a lot of the smog stuff is the same)

Yeah, looks fully desmogged. If you're in a county that requires full emissions testing that's going to require a huge amount of work and parts to pass. Any chance you have another address you can register it to?

These are your air injectors for your AIS (air injection system), there was attached to them and air rail fed by an air pump and a bunch of other hoses valve and other nonsense that shot air into the cylinders starting mid 1969.

Sound like in your area you will need to replicate all that with parts others have removed from there rig. I have a bunch of that junk I saved from an '83 2F but you may be required to have junk from the same year.

Good luck and welcome

I have just read the 3 pages of your thread and the truck is pretty and the best thing…you love it. I have seen a ton of ads for registering in Montana…NO idea what it means or involves.

Here where I live I see tons of cars from North Carolina and a few from Vermont and they’re not “ just passing thru’’. I would bet my last nickel it’s for avoiding high insurance costs. Until there’s an accident

Good luck with your 40. I’m a fan and following any changes you may make. She’s a beauty
