Man you continue to amaze me with all the customization that you come up with. You have an awesome rig and your work is absolutely top shelf. Thanks for sharing it with us. it is inspiring.

Thank you kindly Gary .

Next weekend my son and I will join a bunch of folks on a weekend trip into the famous Cederberg mountains. It meant we had to prep Olive back into overlanding mode. At least I had some very willing help. He was not a happy chappy when he had to miss out on our previous trip due to schooling activities ..

I decided to reroute the fridge's powercable to the other side as it began to catch on the un-opened tailgate. Unfortunately the cable was just to short when the slide was completely out so I opted for a temporary :hillbilly: solution.

A buddy had made me a wooden drinks holder ...

I also fixed that pesky speedo cable ... well sort of .... :meh: It now registers and only jumps around at speeds below 55km/h :hillbilly:

All I can say after reading and absorbing all 18 pages is WOW.

Amazing work! Congratulations as I know you're proud!

Thanks Wayne. Yeah, I have done that trail in my 105 before but for obvious reasons, being able to do it in Olive was the like the proverbial "cherry on the top". That part of the trail is highly rated in these parts of the world....

I am concerned that the susp lift has influenced my rear brake operation ? It felt as if I was only/predominantly braking in the front somehow :hhmm::meh::popcorn:

being the old style braking with no load proportioning valve (unless you installed one) then the lift should not have changed the workings of the rear brakes at all.
maybe do another bleed and/or adjust the rear shoes (if you still have them, can't remember and don't have time to go back through). if 4 wheel disc then did you adjust the valve accordingly? did you upgrade the master to accomodate the rear disc?

just rambling here..

No upgrade Wayne, still the stock front discs and rear large(ala 80 ser) drums. Will start with another bleed and take it from there.

Thanks

Great work Theo,

Good to see your son enjoys the outdoors - and trips away in Olive.

Dan

After spending a captivating few hours reading this thread all I can say is "inspirational". Theo - thanks so much for sharing and taking us on this journey with you - that is an absolute beauty of a truck and clearly a lot of love and pure South African tenacity has gone into it. Bakgat.

I'm a saffer living in Brisbane now and I have just dropped a deposit on a 42LX so I'll definitely be referencing this thread again. Clearly you have many admirers on this forum and it goes without saying that if there is anything you need from Oz you just need to shout. Love your work mate!

Cheers
Gary

Wow,

I have been off mud for a while and up late tonight lurking around diesel conversion sites  but I can see I need to go all the way back thru this thread again!

Top Job! Fantastic!
Your Betty is a hottie:clap:

Now I need to get on that drink holder idea for the front of my cobbled up ammo can console:D

Some more pics of "Ugly Betty" from our Legends Trip earlier this year

Gary, thanks for the offer.

Keith, if Kermit becomes a softie, do you think his early model roof will fit on Olive ? :meh:
