Where do these red leads get wired to? I assume the rear lead (from the camera) goes to the reverse light + and the front lead to the head unit "back"? The yellow RCA seems self-explanatory to the back of the HU. Any clue where the other line from the camera (the black 3/8" jack looking one gets wired to? The diagram shows the license plate light but I'm not convinced that's correct.
.

Reverse light wires, pick one. That's what powers up when you shift into reverse triggering the cam/display.

Thanks.
So the 3/8" jack is just an alternative to the Yellow RCA?

Easy option. Found this adapter at Wal Mart. Wire colors are correct. Cut the adapter off of the joying and spliced to this adapter. These white connectors plug right into the white connectors.

For the gent asking how to use two camera views, use the reverse can for back, ( just connect a switch to a positive source, isolate itvwith diodes if using reverse lights as well) use a USB camera and the car recorders app included for forward camera.

I got it all wired up and functioning back in Jan. Then I went to hook up a powered sub (Another powered subwoofer option in stock location) and could not for the life of me get it to work. So a quick jog to BestBuy and I got a price matched pioneer AVH-X2800BS to put in. Buttoned back up and everything works great. Now I need to unload a perfectly functioning Joying HU.

Perfectly functioning other than the sub output not working? I really want one of these things but I'm not sure I trust them quality wise in the long run. The reviews are all over the place on them. Good for the most part, but enough issues with sound quality, radio reception, and hardware issues. Pioneer has been pretty good for me over the years so I keep falling back to that.

Mine does not have a dedicated sub output.

The reliability has been OK. It's frozen up a couple of times and I had to factory reset it once, but I believe that had to do with an app I loaded on it. It's not reliability on the same level as Pioneer, but it's getting the job done. I'd be more open to a major brand if they would run android and unlock the thing to do what you want with it. Tired of pay more, do less.

No sub output:confused:. Weird, I'll have to check the one I've been looking at. Silly me for assuming any deck worth a crap would have an output lol. I agree on a name brand one. If pioneer made a comparable unit, I'd be all over it, even if it was around twice the price, or $500ish. But I definitely won't pay $1k for one. Definitely unlocked too, none of this proprietary app bs. I may end up going for it anyways since my cruiser is a recreation/ fun vehicle. Not sure I'd want to risk it on a DD.

Did you ever find out what was causing the poor radio reception ? Or find a fix ?

On the gps antenna, most are designed to be installed on a metal surface, not doing so can actually decrease signal strength by up to 50%. So the dash is actually not a great place to put it unless you put a metal plate under it. I have found the best place(other than mounting on the exterior of the vehicle) is to put them on the metal crossbar that runs through the dash. Most antennas are magnetic so you can just stick it on the bar. This has worked great for me, and makes the install a ton easier and cleaner.

Unit has been great so far, except for one thing... radio AM/FM reception. But looks like others are having the same issue with other aftermarket units. I feel its something to do with the wiring harness. Anyone find a solution? Does a Antenna Signal Booster work well on these units?

Mine has stopped showing the display the past few days, it is still working but no display at all. The backlight is coming on, but no picture. I can still stream music through it as long as the bluetooth source is selected and the touchscreen works, but you can't see any picture. I'm probably going to have to replace it.

The AM/FM reception is the crappy tuner chip(s) that the aftermarket units use. If radio reception is important to you, a name brand radio with a good sensitivity tuner is a must. Not all brands have good tuners even in the name brand market.

that is awesome. 4G with the unit... I would love a setup like this. Got links where you did the 4g plan?

Thanks,

Tommy

I've been searching around about this unit and can't find an answer to my question. Question: Can this unit display an external camera while driving? Not just when in reverse. I want to hook up a camera in the front and back of my truck and be able to view them whenever I choose. Thanks.

you need a USB DVR cam and that can run all the time while running using the app car recorder that is built in the Joying head unit apps.

I installed my Joying a couple of months back and just to buck the trend my radio reception is way better on this unit the it was on the stock unit. I live 60 miles south of LA but now I can pick up the LA stations.
Happy days...
