Install my supercharger or sell it?

its only 8 miles one way to work for me now. it used to only be 4. Thats why I am so miled out in the last few years.:)
The use of premium wont break the bank. Besides it would only be an extra 13 bucks a month as I only have to fill up 2x a month.

Given the size of your stable, it doesn't seem like a major need, which is probably why it has been on the bench for two years.

It sounds like there is a price point that would be worth it to you to sell it. Never hurts to see if you have a market that will put that cash back in your pocket if you don't truly *need* the SC.

yeah, I have been trying to thin the heard. Sold one a few weeks ago and need/want to sell about 5 more.

If I did sell I would probably spend that money on a F.O.R. lift and a rear bumper and tires. But then it would probably be slow and sluggish with the extra gear and big tires and I would probably wish I still had the sc to put on.

I am a sucker for a good craigslist deal I guess.
I am selling the fj55, 77 f150, 92 cummins, the 81 fj40 is pretty much crap. it was only 300 bucks, but had some good stuff left inside and the drivetrain.

Yeah with the planned extra weight you could definetly benefit from the extra HP & Torque that the SC will give you.

Just at a reference, my 80 is heavy and I had 1,000lbs of people, 235 lbs. of fuel, and 300 lbs. of gear in my 80 going up mountain passes at 70+MPH. My normally aspirated 1FZE could never have done that yet the SC made easy work of it.

Oh and by the way, the part # for the MR2 spark plugs are 90919-01180-83. They are Denso brand PK20R8
Sorry but I don't know the part # for the blue hub fan cluth as I bought it used.

A lift, tires, and armor are going to be a lot more fun than a SC. Put your headgasket money into 4.88's and you are good to go.
:grinpimp:

hey thanks for that part number! I found the part number for the nice fog lamp switch and ordered it today. I will get those plugs ordered up also. I am now thinking just to keep the sc now but even if I dont it would be a nice little bonus to go with the sc.

Good call. A built 80 without a SC is a turd. Mine slugged along for nearly 2 years before before putting it on and it made a world of difference in driveability.

Which fog switch did you order? The horizontal one like Slee sells or the illuminated rocker switch?

By the way, that 40 in your avatar is awesome!

If I were you I would keep it...especially if you plan on building the 80 up... My 80 is pretty built up and its a bit of a slug... A SC is certainly in my future plans... So if you do decide to sell it ...I will certainly jump in line to take it off your hands... Good Luck either way...

it was part number 84160-28010 as what they call it on the cruiserparts.net its the high quality switch. I bought it from my local dealer. I got it 6 bucks cheaper from them.

I sold my green 40 last year. Dmaddox now owns it. He drove it home to Co. from my place. He restored a really nice fj45 swb and sold it on ebay and bought mine a week later.

I miss it but I never drove it, we all dont fit in it, 1 seat to little. Guess I could have drove it. Hell it made it to Co from here.

Thanks Bull means a lot comming from you. Did you go and check out that 3/4 suburban link that I sent you a few weeks ago?

I would do that, but then also include gears. And it won't be so sluggish.

I installed mine when the truck had 166k miles, and today it has 200k miles... HG has never been done.

Keep it.

Do some stress testing on your engine.

1) Compression Test
2) Leak Down Test
3) Cooling System check.

If all is on the up and up.. Install it and enjoy it.

x2

I was in a similar situation with my Audi (well over 110k miles on the clock). #1-3 above checked out fine, and I installed the S/C on that rig. What a difference, three years and 30k miles later with no regrets. You will love the additional power, as the truck will actually perform as most of us would expect...give 'er some stick, and she will jump.

I get 11-12 MPG

Installed my s/c in Dec. and had to pull apart in Jan. to do the headgasket. The two weren't believed to be related, but only had 112,000 on truck. The headgasket had an external leak in the back, but no oil or water mixture. It looked like the headgasket had rustedm, and a pin hole sized leak that was hard to find was causing coolant loss.

This is my second truck with one, the last one had 165,000 when I put the charger on and never had a problem.

Both trucks on 35" tires and stock gears, and would still dust my brothers 80 with 4.88's on 35's
