Dead dinosaur...

Some rust on the hardtop. Both sides in the same place. I guess this is common?

Ambulance door latch needs to be fixed. Probably just an attachment.

Backsides of the seats look good. Jumper seats are in good shape, but I will probably just put them in the attic.

Some rust on the ambulance doors and bubbles on the body.

Rust on the passenger door.

Seats need new pads, but they're surprisingly comfortable! The wife actually thinks the 40 is more comfortable than the 80.

The air conditioned workshop and the carport that I built for the FJ40. I had a vision of holding HAMOMs here with BBQ, music, whatever folks do at them...

All in all it seems to be in good shape. It took a little while to get used to the non-power steering, but as long as you're rolling, it's not a big deal. Took it out for a stroll in town and it is actually very fun to drive! I smiled the whole time and it seemed fine going 55 mph. I guess my biggest concern at this moment is with the gauges. Oil pressure and temperature are registering, but I don't know how accurate they are. Water temperature and voltage are not registering. The water gauge will need to be troubleshot first. I smelled that distinct hot antifreeze smell while driving around. I don't think it's overheating, it wasn't belching water... But I would like to know if it's getting hot.

pics look nice. Some rust in the common places - from what I have seen. Driving one is infectious; I smile all the time too. Really like the HAMOM-port next to the shed.....

Yeah, the HAMOM-port actually is bigger than it looks. There's plenty of space to jack a car up. Not enough for a lift, though... Did you say you have a lift, Erik?

I sure hope so! We plan to keep it for a while. So I'm going to REALLY show my ignorance here with FJ40's and automotive in general... My friction point on my clutch is very shallow... By this I mean the clutch engages when I don't put much force on the pedal. Is there an adjustment that I can make so that I need to push the pedal in further? Also, the shifter is very loose. Are there bushings that can be installed to stiffen it up a bit?

Did you build that carport and garage in the past month? That's slick as heck!

I wish! We had the shed built 2 years ago and we ran power to it... It's 12x24, so much more than we needed for garden implements. When we found out the FJ40 was coming, I drafted plans, got them permitted, got concrete poured, and built the carport. It took more like 2 months.
