Part # on the box is correct.
The housing is identical in every aspect to my spare 80 series box. The spare 80 series box wasn’t gloss black either.
It’s a 105 series sector shaft because that’s a 105 series pitman and and nut I have loosely installed.
The bit that gave me most pause is this marking.
But I don’t see how I have a knockoff. Side by side they are identical. Some of the housing molding in closeup.

Also the bolts are not painted on your spare box like the ones on the new box.
That color looks normal. We've brought over dozens of the 60212 gearbox over the last 3-4 years, they have all been flat black fwiw
The shaft ends sure look nicer and fresher in the picture you posted.

Ok, we’ve confirmed black matte and all of the boxes show the pink symbol. Appreciate the extra eyes on it since it seemed a variant to other pics of new steering boxes.
@Broski here’s a new 105 series sector shaft purchased about 6 months ago from Partsouq back to back with the new box, they are the same in color and condition although interestingly the new box appears to have longer splines.

Did you paint it further for long term durability/protection? I’d have to stop the various front end leaks I use to lubricate the externals before I’d care about the appearance of the steering box, but best to coat it before install.
Another point of reference from a DM is lavender colored inspection dot on a top bolt, which is present on mine.
It's possible that Toyota has upgraded their coatings. I doubt they would continue to use what they did in the 90's.
I recently got this pintle hook and it has a very similar looking coating. It may just be new paint technology.

What's it like to clean? I always had the opinion the glossier coat probably makes it easier to blast clean with the hose, but I could be wrong. Curious to know what I'm in for, because right now I'm on the fence whether I should spray a coat of clear on that new steering box when it arrives.
