I will have to go back and look at the Fedex international charges, but the duty tax is real. It really eliminated any savings I had for ordering from Impex. Again, I'm going from memory but I think all said and done my new pump with the 105 shaft shipped, received and duty paid was within $100 of a box from cruiser outfitters.

according to Ai, duty from Japan is between 24% up to 30%

I'm assuming your experience was also before the additional 25% government import tax (tariffs) came into force for importing auto parts from Japan to the US at the start of May? Theoretically that should now bite anyone trying to directly import goods like this. Local resellers like Cruiser Outfitters will also most likely be raising their prices significantly once any local stock is exhausted, since 25% will be well above their entire profit margin, they'd be selling at a loss if they didn't raise prices. Something to consider.

Ya basically we will pay more for most everything !!
Thanks to the King

this was before any of the new tariffs.

on the other hand, other than Cruiser Outfitters I had very limited options so I was able to get a part that was basically NLA for a "fair" price. So if you look at it that way, it's a win but still just to toss out the full picture.....

We have a handful (3+) of the LH 80/105 boxes in stock but they are post-tariff so prices already bumped. There isn't a business model in the US to compete with the prices of Amayama or Impex in the US, not our aim nor intention. Rather we stock parts, know what they fit, what else is needed to use/install and ship them the same day they are ordered. We employ Cruiserheads, contribute to Cruiser community events, endeavors and land use efforts to keep trails open. Entirely different business models.
