Muddy people,

Spent some time with Josh last night. Sat and drank a frew. We had a good several hours of Cruiser talk including his awesome, purpose built '71 FJ40. He got a good look at the STPCHLD and MY45AGN. What an interesting guy. He seems to have covered about half of the planet. If not, he will over the next 5 years. It never ceases to amaze me at the variety of Cruiser owners. Chalk it down... One more good friend in the world.

Thanks Josh.

My wife and I were finally able to catch up with @pickelltree Sunday evening for a few minutes in our home city Chattanooga TN. What a stand-up young man who takes on international teaching assignments at various locations the world. At least a part of his amazing travels is via his 71 SA FJ40 that has some really cool modifications and set-up to facilitate travel. He graciously took us thru his truck and covered modifications like a solar panel to power lights and fridg and a custom built tent that is uses the hinged top of his truck as one side of the tent and as the primary tent support (pics below). Josh was with his brother and his wife and a couple of other friends at a well known local chicken/beer hangout so we did not intrude on his last night with family.... but did buy! It was really quite a treat to meet a modern day adventurer!!!!! Best of luck on you journeys @pickelltree!!!!!!

Was great running into bob and his wife their 40 made mine look like a toy.

The truck is not usually that messy when I’m traveling. There’s more room then you think, no not really it’s tight. But doable when it’s organized.

Bob you’ll never guess. Blew my head gasket on the way to s Carolina. I’m at my sisters searching for a 2f and a 4 speed currently. There’s a lot of 40 owners around here. Cross your fingers for me I find one.

PT,
Some people talk and some people do, you are definitely the later! Good luck on finding the parts you need! Nice Rig and may I also say.....nice Bezel? Lol.

Cheers
Kevo

Very cool rig. From the first picture I thought it was almost stock. It’s interesting to see how much you have done with it. Someday I’d like to see it in person.

If you have a chance I’d like to see more about how you did your roof tent... very clever. If I ever had spare time I’d use your design for inspiration... but sadly that won’t happen any time soon. I’m sure you could market a kit to build one... given what Roof Top Tents sell for, I’m sure you could sell them for a reasonable price and still make some money.
