For the pain and money you'll be going through, if all you're searching for is a DD, why not keep the 40
stock, retain it's HIGH value, ( you have a very rare year ) and buy a 60 series. They can be had very
reasonable and a 40 will never match their highway personality
for example:
1985 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FJ60 4X4 4SPD COLD A/C * CLEAN TITLE * NICE! *
1983 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER
I would never advise doing what your planning to a 40 of that year unless the truck was already
two wheels in the grave. Save those mods for the pre 79 project trucks
I have Blazer k5 (350ci) and intend to sale it to starts my project in FJ40 (it's already V8 350ci)
The blazer in the highway is hard and jumping on the road. Fj40 is more comfortable compare to the blazer but looking to get more with wheelbase extend and looks better than stock. I like fj40 looks and small size. And its first time to buyJapanese cars. Before I had jeep Cherokee 2001 and before wrangler 2005.
And I intend to do the extend with the stock spring just relocating the shackles and flip the spring and turn around the spring.
