You are doing a great job on your project. You seem like a handy guy who is not afraid of adventure. You can delete your navigation and bring your stereo system up to 2018 standards. If you save the parts you will make money on the deal. The hard work has been done for you. When you are done you can add the Double DIN navigation/stereo system of your choice. Here is the link

Thoughts on the lift right now - I think I am going to just go with OEM Tokico Shocks, 30 mm spacers in back and crank the TBs a little. I like the ride. I do notice a little rear sag with weight so I may switch the springs for something firmer if it is too noticeable. (This may change). I do not do a lot of hardcore rock crawling I just want to be taller for higher water and aesthetics (because I can't be like every other Land Cruiser).

Does anyone have a spring suggestion for 1" lift and stock ride or slightly firmer than stock?

Another note - received my electrical connectors from Camelback Toyota... should get those on soon.

...waiting for a warmer day to put the seat covers on... I think I am just going to do the fronts now. I will wait till the kids get older to put the middle covers on.

I need a driver side headlight... any yards around Houston that have any L Cruisers?

I installed a rear airbag. I wanted to be able to stiffen up the rear for the times when I am loaded down. Check this thread for details.

I have a factory brush guard with hardware and a mounted LED light you might be interested in dressing up your LC until you add an upgraded bumper/winch. Will make you a deal on it and I can meet up with you in Houston.

The previous owner removed the 2 wing bars that wrap around the headlights. He bent one of them, so he removed them.

Here is a pic of it on my rig before I upgraded to an ARB bumper.

Here is how mine looks with 275/70 KO2s, 30mm Slee spacers, new OEM shocks, and cranked torsion bars. I'm sitting at about 20.5" front / 22" rear.

OME 865 springs would be an option if you wanted a little more lift and a stiffer rate in the rear

I'm sitting exactly like the pic above, and also have turned stock tbars, newish OEM shocks (like the ride just fine, can't beat the price), 30mm coil spacers and stock, 20yo coils. Rides like a luxury SUV with surprising offroad capability.

It was exhausting trying to figure out what to do with my suspension. I was leaning towards a set of Tough Dogs and OME 865s, but ultimately decided to go this route after considering the cost and reality of how I'm using my truck on a daily basis. This setup is perfect 51 out of 52 weeks a year. If I load up for HIH again, that will be the one week I'll want more clearance, travel, and a stiffer spring rate.

Outside of better dampening from the new shocks, the ride is no different than before. I have over 50mm of droop, but if I wanted to go much higher I'd need to re-index my torsion bars.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking into ToughDog and IronMan as part of my long-term plan to convert my LX for overlanding. Have you considered the AirLift airbags to supplement the rear when loaded? It wouldn't address the travel or clearance, but would effect the spring rate.

I appreciate it but I will pass. I had a friend get tapped in the back by an SUV with a brush guard and the guard folded over into the hood, denting and scratching paint, and broke the grille and both headlights. It probably would have only crushed the bumper honeycomb a little behind the bumper cover if it didn't have it on. I have been scared of them from then on. I may build a bumper one day as i have wanted to do this for fun.

Well, the AC started coming on a little over the last couple of days and I have noticed a light Freon smell. The PO told me that he had to top it off with Freon once last summer so I was prepared for this. I will get some dye and throw it in...

Today, I also noticed water dripping from the Evap Coil Housing on the (all weather) floor mats.


So, I purchased a Drier, Denso Evaporator Coil, and Denso Expansion Valve from Rock Auto.

Also, got some new Iridium DENSO 3297 Spark Plugs and a Fuel Filter (and plugs and Wires for the 4Runner) from Rock Auto.

Also decided to go with OEM Tokico Shocks, 30mm rear Spring Spacers from Poly Tuff on EBay (if the new shocks don't fix the ass heaviness bounce I can sell these easy and get some stiffer springs). Also bought some misc Vacuum and PCV Hoses from Camelback Toyota.


Starting to look for HVAC Controls for the NAV Delete mod that TXSunDevil recommended above.

While you are in the evaporator might as well change the packing. This is where mine was leaking. It was just an annoying drip on the most humid days. It is a sponge like seal that prevents the cold air from leaking by the passenger seat floorboard. Toyota part #88578-47040 for my vehicle

Went to Pearland, TX last night for dinner (about 40 min away) and came back. While waiting for the driveway gate to open I noticed smoke or steam... Got out and I had a nice little puddle of coolant. Luckily, didn't lose enough to go below the low level on the overflow tank. Radiator is cracked somewhere I can't see.

Denso radiator, cap, and thermostat is on the way. Looks like a fairly easy change. Also, it looks like my radiator was made by T Rad (or something like that) which is different than all the other Toyotas I have worked on. I know it is an original.

By the time it is done, your 100 will last another 150k miles problem free!!!

Alright, got to work a little this weekend. Son turned 4 this so it has been busy.

Got the last of the parts in on Saturday plus the main one, the radiator.

Got PCV valve hoses and misc vacuum hoses replaced that I found while doing the starter. Check the crack on the hose below.

I also replaced the two main electrical connectors that I was concerned about.

Got the new radiator in. Pretty easy. There were some foam tape strips on 3 sides of the old radiator. I trimmed this off with a razor blade and glued it to the new radiator. New Super Long Life Coolant. I also strained and saved the old stuff in the empty bottles in case I spring a leak somewhere I have an emergency stash. The old coolant looked really clean and there was no sediment a could find.

Me being me, I had to find the reason this thing leaked. You can see the build up of crud at the bottom in the middle. Pretty sure with the staining and where it was dripping that the cause was deterioration in that spot from the outside.

I also got a new thermostat but opened the box and it did not have the jiggler valve so I skipped that step.

While R&Ring the radiator I noticed the hoses were too soft for my liking (they were replaced at 120K) so i ordered some and replaced them this weekend. I also got the correct Aisin T-Stat and replaced that. Not much work this weekend.

I have found while driving that the VSC sensor sure is sensitive. Even on dry roads completely normal this thing kicks in beeping like crazy. Well this morning, while doing a long sweeping curve to the left on a freeway (about 65 mph) it tried Pulsed my right side brakes and damn near put me into a wall... Anyone know a way to disable without killing the ABS? (I like ABS)

Finally got the spacers in the mail... Have to find time for suspension work while I wait for temps to warm up for the interior.
