I have found while driving that the VSC sensor sure is sensitive. Even on dry roads completely normal this thing kicks in beeping like crazy. Well this morning, while doing a long sweeping curve to the left on a freeway (about 65 mph) it tried Pulsed my right side brakes and damn near put me into a wall... Anyone know a way to disable without killing the ABS? (I like ABS)

This could be a sign of loose front wheel bearings. Might be worth your while to tear into the front hub, lube everything back up and make sure all is nice and tight

wow great build! are you happy with the suspension?

Well, here I am again. 2nd time in two months... stranded.

I am sitting at an intersection right now, first in line, but unable to move.

Battery light came on, I turned around to head to a parking lot or get closer home, all the lights came on, radio and acc died and she shut off. Seems like a dead battery but it is only a few months old. My guess is an alternator.

and you're not alone. I've had a few drops recently, once because I miswired an O2 sensor and another because of a APPS sensor I should have recognized sooner. Just be thankful the weather isn't worse.

Enjoying your thread, keep posting!

I went ahead and pulled the Alt tonight. It was filthy greasy from the power steering leak that happened before I owned it. A little simple green and some misc brushes and it got pretty clean. I went ahead and cleaned what I could reach in the engine compartment.

I will clean it more when I pull it apart. Of course, the plastic connector fell apart as I pressed the release clip. Anyone know that part #?

Look through this thread Alternator - Napa of Oreilly and it shows one member who used a wire pigtail he bought off eBay to replace his. Also, if you still have the connector it should have a pn printed on it.

So I had some time to worondo on her today. I decided to fix up the electrical connectors that broke. Pretty easy deal. I actually think it is easier than splicing in new connections and is cleaner and will last longer. See the little white tab in the middle of the connector? Grab it with some needle nose pliers and pull it all the way out.

Halfway out

I used a small electrical screwdriver to go in and disconnect the clip inside

Here I have pulled the white clip all the way out. Put the screwdriver (or ice pick, dental pick, tool, etc...) where the white clip was below one of the connectors. Try to dig the tip into the plastic clip and pry down away from the metal connector.

Put a little tension pulling the connector away from the vehicle and it should slide right out. Before taking them both out make sure you know which wire goes on which side.

And out they come...

This is how you receive the new ones with the white clip half in

Insert the wires in the same position they came out and press in the white clip

Some of the carnage

After getting the hang of it it goes really fast. First one took 5-10 min of figuring it out, the rest was maybe 1-2 min each.

Started pulling apart the alternator. I have the brushes but the bearings and connector will be here Monday.

It’s dirty in there

Old vs New brushes

I went ahead and started cleaning the bodies and other parts so hopefully I can just throw it all together on Monday. Bearings feel great. Prob don’t have to replace but since I am there...
