Any chance of getting the original bill of sale/title? It'd be a neat item to have around. BTW nice score on a low mileage 80 series.

I thought about posting up a picture of the CA title, but wasn't sure if it broke some bat sh!t crazy California law regarding name copy right infringement. I'm probably wrong, but I will post some old service records that came with vehicle. Check the first pics name. Spelled incorrectly of course but, but the address is what really helps.
Bea Arthur Address and Pictures

Now the second pic, look at the name Bernice Saks and reference the link here paying special attention to her husband.

If you still don't believe me I'll take a picture of the Title, but got to make sure I'm not messing up there.

How did you come across the truck for sale...here on mud or somewhere else? nice find.

I had been searching for months, when it popped up on craigslist in Santa Monica. I emailed immediately, and luckily was the first to test drive it. The owner, her son said that he got no less than twenty calls the first day to see it.

What I wanna know is if Bea installed the ARB front bumper on her 80??? It would only be fitting if she had done some Maudes to it herself.

No, her son told me that he installed it fairly recently after she died. I think he's a little savvy to 80's and Cruisers as a whole but told me he doesn't have the time.

I think it's pretty cool that Bea was hardcore enough to get the locked 80.
:grinpimp:

My guess is that she had enough money and picked up the most option loaded Land Cruiser. If you look at the original window sticker, the total cost was $45,771 and that was almost 18 years ago.

Not that I'm into celebs at all, but it is a neat score. Glad you have the title, etc. if just for the cool factor/CDI.
I'm not into custom liscence plates either, but if you are... there are a lot of neat ones you could come upp with for this ride. I can't help but think "90210" when I saw that Beverly Hills Recipt. But... "thinking" is "the dangerous thing".

Awesome story. Are you going to.watch some episodes of maude and golden girls and show the kiddies who used to own your strange new car?

Looks like a very nice 80. Only 77K!!! You must have paid a pretty penny for that one. White being the best color....and Maude owning it...wow. thats funny. My grandmother would love that truck...lol. was her fav. show.

Thanks for making me laugh at work this morning- really funny and man, that lady's timing was the bomb- a truly talented /funny person....

Sorry, I have to ask...

Are there naked pictures in the glove box? Obscure reference :)

This makes me think of the Seinfeld episode when George thought he bought Jon Voights old Lebaron. :D

HAHA! - I was just thinking this exact thing myself!

Sounds like all the "celebrity owned" 80's are finding their way up the coast, as back when I bought mine back in 2001, the lot it came from said it was owned by a "big name star" in Hollywood - I told them I didn't care or want to know, as it didn't have any bearing to me on the 80 as it sat there in front of me, and I just knew if they started name-dropping, the price would go up.

It sorta made sense though - a black 80, grey leather, no gold package or wood inserts on the dash & console - exactly as I would have ordered it if I had the coin back in '97 - all it missed was the lockers & I fixed that.

I still don't know who the owner was, but I did verify it came from Toyota of Hollywood - I never chased it any further, but I'm just not the curious type.

Cool to hear you got the "dream 80" though - 1 owner, a "little old lady" , "just driven to get groceries/church on Sunday"& low enough miles it's just now due for front axle service, not like some where maint was neglected - yours simply didn't have the miles to go in yet!

Excellent purchase! - I was hoping you went for this one - the money you spent up front will really pay off in the long term as far as cost per mile of ownership, plus the reliability you still have that starts to get a little more spotty with a lot more miles you won't even face for quite some time is something hard to put a pricetag on.

Best of luck with ownership, although I doubt you'll need it as yours probably just lost that "new car smell" a few months ago!

Imagine the possibilities- ,.... Her, Estelle Geddes and Betty White... all shopping in the 80 in the morning- than off to Pismo Beach to party the afternoon away.....

In addition to the ownership record it's a damn low mileage truck. That in and of its self is a major score.

Don't wanna step on your toes but can you give an idea of what you paid for a Cruiser like this one...if you don't want to I understand.

Nice find and BEAUTIFUL Cruiser...looks like it just came off the showroom. Congrats!

It would be a shame if you modded up that truck aside from the existing ARB. You definitely should just keep it nice and damage free.

Why? Because it was Bea Arthur's?
