Does duplicolor make a non-rough coating that is similar to durabak?

Yes. It's a very smooth finish compared to any other liner's I've seen.

I picked mine up from HF for $10 a can. I'm about $50 into it, and have done the front bumper, the entire PS body cladding, and the body cladding on the tailgate. Need to do the rear bumper, body cladding on the DS, and the roof.

Well I have a 97 so my headliner would come down a whole easier then the earlier 80s. But I would still prefer NOT to do that.

Mine has come in and out twice. It's not that big of a deal. I'm taking it down 1 more time to weld in the roof-rack holes, shampoo/clean the headliner and add sound deadening. It just takes time to remove the various parts and pieces. If you're meticulous in bagging/marking items/bolts (which I KNOW you would be Joey,) it ain't no big thang. Really. Now, taking down the sunroof, that's the unknown to me. But I'll do it and not look back.

Best of luck, and sorry that it had to happen this way!

Certainly....

Materials needed:

:princess:
:princess::steer:
:princess: possibly
:princess:
• or heck maybe even  for all I know
• Perhaps some :mad::steer:
• Drive until the rack does this ---> :bang:
• And roof looks like this ---> :hillbilly:
 Then decide which rack you want to rock to look :grinpimp:
• When :princess: comes home and says :whoops: give her the
• Take pictures and post

YMMV

LMFAO!!:D

How long have you had the duplicolor on? Do you know if it is UV protected?

I haven't had it on very long. I've abused it already, and I'm very impressed with how well it's held up.

If you're really concerned you could coat it in some sort of UV sealant. If it fades I'm planning on just simply shooting a light coat over it.

Sounds good, I think I'll go check out HF to see if they carry it out here.

I also don't like the rough stuff. (please no :banana:jokes) It seems like it would be a pita to clean mud off with all the surface area there is to collect grime.

The local carwash takes care of that. :D

The quick and dirty method is to put a thick O ring or a sink washer on the bolts and tap them back in. If you're worried about cosmetics, use some sort of trim or bedliner. I wouldn't mess with the factory paint. Better yet, just lift it so no one can see the roof.:hillbilly:

ouch.

The PO on my LX appears to have filled the holes with what I would guess is off the shelf epoxy. I could find out for sure, as he is a member on the board here. It's been that way for a few years now and is holding up great. You may need to beat that sheet metal down though. Use a very light hammer for this. That way it will just push down the local metal that is high.

Well whatever I am going to do I am going to be forced to do it quickly. Its supposed to rain this coming week. :(

Nice!!!! Read the chat post to.

Honestly the PO of my rig did the same thing, only somehow the rack stayed on. It had two very nice yellow gunch marks on it!!!

The first rain under my ownership the thing leaked like a sieve. I ended up literally ripping the thing off and dealt with the aftermath on a hole by hole basis. LOTS of silicone.

Long term plan is the T Y L E R treatment.

What is the problem? I removed mine to put on a Con-ferr rack! You are on your way!:)

Fast Steel + Bedliner. There is zero reason to fawk with this, fix it, lift it, add some more character offroad.

BTW, you still have a drill bit in your engine. :flipoff2:

Yeah I was just looking at Fast Steel, I think I am going to go that route.

So I will be dropping the headliner in the back. Gently massaging the dents out. Carefully removing the two bad nutserts and pounding that area out flat. Gonna try the Fast Steel. Anything I should about with working with Fast Steel?

Then its off to Line-X. I thought about Durabak but I just want it done right and with a warranty :D

I'm thinking you did the rack removal and you're embarrassed to say it so you're blaming it on the wife so you can post up for some advice!! :hhmm: :D

That fast steel looks like a great product. I think I am going to use it for my rusted rear sliding window sill and the rust rack Thanksgiving break.

It seems like two 4oz tubes should be enough for the roof rack.

One VERY important step to completing this whole project. After you pick out a cover-up liner, after you pick out and mount a kick arse roof rack. You NEED to install a piece of tape at the top of the windshield and in BOLD RED marker write. ROOF RACK ON TOP!

Just a friendly reminder for the :princess:

HAHAHAHAHA, my wife laughed at me because she thought I was gonna install some kind of sensor with warning lights and buzzers :flipoff2:

BTW anyone know where to get Fast Steel? So far I can only find it online. I was hoping that Home Depot or Lowes or someplace like that would have it.

I saw it at Harbor Freight before...
