How to get peak AC performance from your 2003+ 100 series

Truth!! ^^^^^ The hardest part of the install for me was mustering the courage to put a hole in my firewall grommet. With a bead of silicone around the wires in that area all is well so far!

I just heated up an awl with my crack torch to make the hole, simple and fast.

Just ordered a plug-n-play kit for the tail end of this brutal, Texas summer heat.

The 100/LX470 aux fan kit was mainly designed for peak AC performance but it does help some with water temp.

Today I moved my daughter back into her dorm. As I sit in motionless traffic with outside temp at 97° I look down and notice my water temp at 207°. I turn on my aux fan and after several minutes Im back at 200°-202° and stayed there until we had her unloaded.

Parts received in good packing, hoping to get them installed this weekend.

Good to hear
Post#115 above has some very helpful install hints you will want to check out.

Aux Fan Availability - If its listed on our site its IN STOCK and READY TO SHIP we dont do back orders or out of stock;)

Installed the fan from LandCruiserPhil... what a cool dude (ha ha get it). During install it was hot in the drive way so I took a break and looked in the parts box from him and there was tootsie rolls, very thoughtful! Then when I began fishing the wires in I dug everywhere for my fish tape... took a break and went back the box o candy again-mmh. In the box was a very rigid length of wire from Phil that could be used as a fish, again very thoughtful! overall everything went great and super easy to install.

I will say this, this fan does nothing for over heating, it is not suppose to. This fan is just for the ac condenser

The fan is installed. The instructions given here are spot on and easy to follow.

I approached the drilling with trepidation, given the proximity to many expensive parts. A piece of wood on the backside to prevent the bit from poking holes in the AC lines gave me some peace of mind. After that, the install is a piece of cake. The hardware is all good quality and goes together smoothly.

For wiring, I opted to set up a relay triggered by the compressor clutch to power the fan to automate its operation with the AC. The improvement in cooling performance is most noticeable in traffic and slow speeds. Standing in front of the vehicle, the fan noise is noticeable, but not by much, and certainly not from inside the vehicle.

All in all, a good kit, project and improvement.

@vcheng Do you have a pic of where you tapped into the compressor clutch line?

Remove the engine cover and open up the harness near where the #1 coil wire comes out. Tap into the black/yellow wire. I would take a photo for you, except that it is now under the cover. :D

Picture from an 06' stolen from a customer's install using our fan/bracket:clap:

There are two unused ports at the a/c pressure switch that you could also tap and run to a relay. Get the appropriate wire taps and wire it up per the "abc's of cooling" & "JDM aux fan" threads over in the 80 series section.

I started down this road because it is a very nice way to have you fan come on with your compressor, almost factory like. Be aware even with the correct 4-pin connector not all 80 pressure switches have the extra set of contacts. I would test before searching for the connector because to change the pressure switch requires new freon.
