Seems like it would have come with this, but I got the compressor right off the showroom floor...

There's the problem right there! The display model simply didn't have it installed because they didn't figure it would ever actually run, and they just lost the filter in the process.

That said, I don't remember having to do any assembly of the filter on the compressor we bought... But it is a little bit that would be easily damaged, so probably best left off the compressor for shipping anyhow.

Mine has this screw in housing that holds a replaceable element...

Should be able to find this somewhere. Guessing it's a standard pipe thread?

when i bought my speedaire compressor my filter wasn't attached and it was cracked they had to give me a new one they tried to say i broke it . a replacement was also kinda pricey ,they also told me that it should of been attached to the motor from the manufacturer not just chucked in the box broken:doh:

anyways

Koolerman, do you remember how much that compressor cost? Are you happy with it so far? I am kind of looking for one.
Thanks

2 years ago the original price was $499 but they were having a grand opening at a new store and had it priced for $369. Spent another $100 on hoses/fittings and electrical stuff to install it.

I love it. I can run a sand blaster all day and it just chugs along. ;) With the 80 gallon tank it takes about 6 minutes to fill it to 130 PSI from zero.

thanks for the info . heres my specs ,i was gonna try a sand blaster on mine ,not sure if my tank is big enough ? 20 gallon ,mine is portable i don't no why they made one portable and on 220 .who has 220 outlets just laying around there yard.
do ya think it could run a blaster?

Yes that will run a sand blaster. The small tank will of course make it cycle more. I ran my pot blaster off of a small oil-less Craftsman compressor with a 25 gallon tank for quite a while and it had nowhere near your output specs.

Since we are now on the topic of sandblasting...

Im using Black Diamond Coal Slag as media. I purchased it at Tractor Supply, pretty cheap and biodegradable (i guess).

But the effing blaster keeps getting clogged !!! The tip that came with blaster is way too small so I took an 1/4 inch male air connector cut it off shorter with a rubber O-ring and fitted it to my deadman's valve.

But it still gets clogged !!!!

There are different grits of Black Diamond and Im going to try a higher grit, but what do you guys use for both blasting media and for the tip of your blaster?

I use playground sand from Lowe's. $3.49 for a 40lb bag. I have to sift it through a small screen as it comes with some pebbles in it.

My tip is a ceramic 1/8" Harbor Freight tip.

Is it a pot blaster (pressurized pot) or a suction device (pulls sand from a container)?
Do you have a water trap installed right at the point of use?

Where is it clogging? My pot blaster clogs at the very bottom valve where the media exits the tank. My cabinet blaster clogs in the gun itself. It's ALWAYS water in the line that causes it. Usually because I fail to drain the trap until it's too late...

Before someone "blasts me" for using sand with its silicosis risk, When blasting outside I wear a full face respirator AND use a forced fresh air source. When using my cabinet it's connected to a shop vac with a HEPA filter. The vac air exit is routed to a large fan that blows any dust that escapes the vac outside.
