Hoping someone can recommend the right products to restore this old filter assy. Looks like the fuel became a gel/varnish mixture. Maybe disassemble and a thourough soak in the right chemicals will do the trick on the glass and fittings. I can sandblast the aluminum top, steel retainer, and bottom nut.

Carb dip for the metal bits. Spray CLR for the glass, wipe, repeat.

I believe you can still buy the filter new; however, there’s a metal bowl instead of glass.

0000 Steel Wool is your best friend on that glass... :)

While your waiting to purchase the steel wool you might throw it in a pot of clean fuel for a good soak.

I will do that. Good call!

I’ve read that some restorers of old Coleman lanterns use toilet bowl cleaner to make the globes really sparkle. I’d give it a try on the glass. If it’ll work wonders on an 80 year old lantern globe it should worry on a glass fuel bowl.

This one from the beginning of ‘40 just got soap and water (which it needs again)...

That one was my grandparents... it still works like new.

"THIS" looks interesting but I haven't used it. I've used a Scotch-Brite pad on a windshield to remove pain overspray and it didn't scratch it. It was the green but the blue ones are supposed to be non scratching. A clay bar works good on windshields to get them super clean & polished ready for Rain X.
Just remember if you need to move up to something really aggressive, you can test it on an old jar.

For glass I usually use a single edge razor blade to remove paint and stickers.
I’ve even stripped paint off doors with a razor blade. :D
