How on earth do I get rid of this engine?

Doing a diesel swap for my 60 the 2f is no longer needed. I've had it posted on CL for a few weeks , not a single call. What is this thing worth, with tranny and tcase? It's really not a junker I'd hate to just scrap it, im willing to give it to somebody at this point. Does anyone want it? Here's the listing:

Price lowered 1984 Toyota 2F Engine and Transmission

Nice of you to want to give it to a fellow Cruiserhead.

So it's way overpriced on the CL ad ($1300). It's worth $350-$500 at most, so people seeing it just dismiss based on price. Over 200K miles the engine just looses value even if good like yours.

But the transmission and t-case should get some interest. Sounds like both are good and ready for more fun.

Good luck with it.

I’ve bought 3 used engines for Landcruisers. First was a 2f that powered my fj55 wagon for a couple years before I rebuilt it. Second is the engine STILL powering my fj62. The third is in the garage as a spare- a refreshed 3fe with a440 and tcase- each os these three engines were advertised and sold for 500 bucks. You might get more for a very complete, very clean motor- especially if someone can hear it run. Hth.

Awesome your giving it to a mud member.. wish you were closer I’d grab it in a heart beat

Just curious, did you put it in MUD Classifieds?

Just looked at your pictures. I sold mine still in cruiser so it was running, made buyer a lot more comfortable hearing and driving it. Pulled motor is a bit sketchy. Good luck.

Are you sure you don’t want to keep your 60s transfer case? I kept mine. I bought Advanced Adapters one that goes from stock 60’s transfer case to NV4500 dodge 5 speed.

It's only been a freaking week. It's not like the world is clamoring for extremely high mileage pulled 2Fs with no guarantee it even runs. There are bonafied well established land cruiser shops that sit on used stuff for -years-.

There will be a buyer for this eventually but your asking price is rediculously low. If it seems worthless to you, it seems worthless to everyone else. You would probably be more successful selling it it you increased the price a LOT. Now it just seems like junk you're trying to clear out of your garage.

The head alone is worth more than $400 if it's not cracked.
It took me two months to sell my car.
Be patient.

For now I've updated it to $950... I'll post it to MUD classifieds, too. I can wait it out, just as long as I know my price isnt asking too much or too little.

I never knew an adapter was made for that setup. I might actually consider this, thanks for letting me know!

Here was mine I bought

Have you started a build thread?
Not yet, I'm a very busy high school student and it's moving slow as molasses. I'm going with an OM617 and an nv4500, only because I'm very fond and familiar with that engine. I haven't even finished building it yet.

I think @orangefj45 was looking for a running 2F a little while ago.

My experience: when you have a 2F you want to get rid of, you can't give it away. When you need one, they are hard to find.

My experience too. I feel fortunate when I needed a 2F, I found one for $350. And it's a solid running, desmogged, good compression, 2F to this day.
