Thanks man. That is helpful to know. My project hopefully doesn’t involve me removing my old pan and the new(er) one has a new sealed gasket so I’m hoping I don’t have to go there.I have a bare block here, the tube was bent/broken in transit after the machining process. Using a drift you could tap the tube out from the bottom w the pan off, at least thats how I'm going to do it.
So glad I didn’t have to go that route. I used black fipg in a thin layer and tamped it back in with a soft piece of wood so as not to bend the flare end.you porbably already figured this out, but I had to drive mine out with a pin punch from the sump side - yes, the pan has to come off, don't bend it while removing it, and replacing it has a somewhat specific sequence. there is a thread for pan and side cover installation that give play by play so you both don't futz it up, or have leaks when done.
