I have a bare block here, the tube was bent/broken in transit after the machining process. Using a drift you could tap the tube out from the bottom w the pan off, at least thats how I'm going to do it.

Success!

Since it is available from Toyota, I hit it harder, used heat on the insertion point and PB Blaster then welded a tack onto the post to give the vice grips a surface to grip beneath and then whacked from below. I’ll place this in the freezer and heat the insertion point and maybe a thin coat of JB Weld to reinsert in the newer engine. Have I mentioned I’m retired and cheap and there is NO cash flow?!

Along the same line, how do we find part numbers these days? I used to look at the clickable diagrams on Toyota dealership sites but they changed a couple of years ago and I can’t seem to find those diagrams. I had used Serra Toyota online in Alabama because their guys are great but now I have to talk to someone.

Thanks for the feedback as I was really stuck and the advice was very valuable. Sorry for the rough start. D

Thanks man. That is helpful to know. My project hopefully doesn’t involve me removing my old pan and the new(er) one has a new sealed gasket so I’m hoping I don’t have to go there.

you porbably already figured this out, but I had to drive mine out with a pin punch from the sump side - yes, the pan has to come off, don't bend it while removing it, and replacing it has a somewhat specific sequence. there is a thread for pan and side cover installation that give play by play so you both don't futz it up, or have leaks when done.

So glad I didn’t have to go that route. I used black fipg in a thin layer and tamped it back in with a soft piece of wood so as not to bend the flare end.
