Hey All!

Keeping my eye on the prize here. I definitely want a LC/LX at some point...not sure when it will be, but I do know it will need to be my daily driver.

I would like to own a 200, but I think I’ll be in the 100 price range when the time comes. The vehicle will be mine which entails 40 total miles a day commute as well as the evening taxi duties for my three active sons.

While I do love stalking all of you doing adventurous things with your cruisers, I probably won’t be (although the desire is there, not so much know how...hence my username).

So how many are you daily driving your LC/LXs? And how viable is it to do what I’ve described above?

Thanks all!!

I drive about 50 miles a day in mine, and I am averaging 14 mpg, which hurts a bit. I am lifted about 1", 275/70r18 BFG AT KO2.

I will be retiring the LX for DD duty and replacing it with my rolled 4runner, it at least gets 17mpg! but it needs a new set of tires and a few other things before I can do that.

I daily drive quite a bit. Maybe 75% of the time. Im surrounded by uninsured drivers, tractor trailers and tourists that make 4 lane changes. It's peace of mind.

DD by my wife. 260 Miles per tank AVG mixed driving.

I daily drive mine approx 15 miles round trip to work. I putter along like a grandpa and take the back roads.
In the last two weeks I have gone from the Phx valley to Idaho and back and then out to San Francisco area and back... I'm waiting for the Visa bill on the fuel used.

Why wouldn't it be your DD?
Do the math, average a tank of fuel a week, which is $50-60.
So lets say $250/mo in fuel, repairs are few and cheap.
What's the cost of insurance on a 2nd car? $150/mo? Plus fuel and repairs assuming no car payment on 2n car, so now you're right back at $250/mo and you're paying insurance on 2 cars, fuel and repairs for 2 cars.
It makes no sense.

You do not need to mod the hell out of your truck to take it off-road. You can get out in the woods, the dunes, snow...all you need is a good set of tires, nothing crazy, stock sized A/T's, a Hi-Lift jack, recovery strap and a willininess to have fun and get dirty.
The best lunch I ever have is PB&J and juice boxes packed in a cooler with the fam in the middle of the woods after a day of two tracking.

Other than gas mileage, brilliant daily driver. Skip a 2nd car and you are ahead.

Wife DD's ours. Approximately 50 miles a day.

My DD. 2005 w/ 217k + miles. Live in Dallas. Work in Houston. Drive back and forth almost every weekend. Family holidays up to Tulsa and back.

Expertly maintained. I trust my LC to get me there and back. Every time. Without worry. It has never let me down.

Loving all these responses. Would love to hear more.

How many miles a week? What year? How many miles on your ride?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

This is exactly what I’m looking to do. Nice truck. Any mods? Looks like slight lift?
