How I went from two 62's in my garage to none in two weeks...... (1 Viewer)

Not to steer this thread away from the true direction, but stay on TOP of USAA. Had them for many years and while still happy, they seem to take some hand holding now.

Agreed, will be giving them feedback on their process!

Just returned from meeting Marshall to look it over and get the license plate and whatever else was deemed "personal property"! Marshall said that frame appeared to not be bent! Have let USAA know I have released the vehicle to them and to please expedite getting it to where it needs to go to be inspected by the adjuster. Stay tuned.

Update: Yesterday at lunch I happened to be near the lot where I cleaned out the 62 last Thursday morning. Was shocked to see that it was still there! Made a phone call to USAA and posted a message on the board on my claim expressing frustration and disappointment in the process......got apologies and promises that it would get moved to Spartanburg for inspection by today.

The situation has forced me to drive the 40 to work the last few days which has been quite enjoyable but if rain is in the forecast that won't be an option. Anybody have a vehicle to loan out for possibly a few weeks?

What could be better than cruising to work in a 40?

(USAA following up on things is a possible answer, but I digress)

Glad to hear the frame is still straight!

Ok, been a while but had a lot going on with family in town for youngest daughter's graduation last week and then 4 days in Washington D.C. attending a good friend's retirement ceremony from the US Army and celebrating our 29th Anniversary!
I think we have everything wrapped up......only 3 weeks after the accident.
I have chosen Brookshire Collision in Mauldin to do the body work. Hopefully tomorrow can get the vehicle from where it sits at the Co-part yard in Greer to their facility.

Well, time to get this back on track! Took a trailer load of parts to the body shop today and awaiting quote on getting the whole vehicle painted. Was told by someone not affiliated with Brookshire Collision that he thinks they now have the best paint shop in the Upstate if not the state! Went and saw the old girl for the first time in several months and can't wait to get her back on the road!

Glad you are making progress. Cant wait to see the results. .

Just stopped by the body shop and its actually in the shop with new fender and bumper on! I was so excited I forgot to take pictures but will post one up soon as I will be swinging by to drop off the 33" BFG AT's that will be going on it! Should be driving it to Relic Run!

Looking at the pictures and the numbers you posted, it sounds like this should work out pretty good. I have an estimate of 3-3.5K for a repaint on my 62.

Where did you get a new grill from?
Shot you a text, have decided to not do repaint right now and am very interested to see how yours turns out! Fortunately the front grill center section was not damaged and will be reused and I just happen to have some surplus side light buckets that have some chrome flaking off and am having them touch it up with some chrome paint so it looks decent from a distance.

Dropped off the 33" BFG AT's. In queue for the paint shop, not going to have the entire vehicle painted right now....gotta keep saving my pennies.

Big thanks to @Trollhole for taking time to make a body shop call this afternoon to diagnose why the engine wouldn't catch. Apparently the intake hose was the culprit.....I showed up soon after he left and experienced the joy of it starting on the first turn.......soon after the paint shop dude came and got it to pull into the shop.......I'm about as giddy as a 6 year old at Christmas right now which will radically change in a few days as my wife and i start a diet tomorrow.....:(:(:(

Apparently it's Grey Land Cruiser week at the Brookshire Paint shop! Dropped off a few more small parts and was told I should have it Friday!
Found out that Brookshire does maybe 1-2 non-insurance covered work a year and so I am the one for the last 12 months as they have been so covered up. They feel bad that it's taken this long and were very quick to agree to paint the roof and hood in addition to the front & rear quarter panels.

I guess my 62 really liked being in the paint shop as she/he (I guess I need to name it!) just got out after 3 weeks! She's back in the shop getting reassembled and I should be home by the end of the week.......I sure hope so!

Any suggestions on names after what has transpired these past 12 months????

Bon Jovi.

Huge in the 80's, still cool. And best of all... Slippery when wet! (referring to the wet conditions that caused the accident)
