I am in process of mounting my new warn M8000 winch and was wondering how you guys mount the control box. I want to center it over the cable spool. There are two small bolts with nuts that come off the bottom of the box and two stamped "curved" pieces that are part of the steel bottom. I'm not sure what they are intended for? Thoughts are appreciated.

i have just the m8000 with no control box so i will make my own control and i plan to place it inside the engine compartment, but that its a spare winch for a mini truck,on my 40 i have the warn 8274-50

Thanks for the reply. I just checked out your winch mount on your website.... I see what the curved stamped pieces are for.. Pictures are worth a thousand words! Thanks

I moved it to the driver's side and made my own longer cables. I did this to not block airflow to the rad any worse than possible. Under the hood is a good option to free up space/clutter.

I mounted mine under the hood, fabbed a bracket coming off my dual battery tray. The downside is getting to the box to plug your remote in, unless you run controls to the dash.

Apologies for resurrecting a 7 year old thread but i find myself in a similar place. Mounting the control box would be simple if i didnt have a set of hella 4000 spots in the way. As it stands i am faced with mounting it below the winch - im thinking 3 foot of standing water would not be a favorable option when i try to plug in the controller.
Under the hood is an option but i am thinking hood up when winching does not sound like a good option either.
Help me out here chaps....
