Nice to start with a fresh truck. Should be fun!

Naked frames in the shop always make me smile :)

All but the top has been wire wheeled. Probably 80% of original paint remaining. Non primed areas treated with OSPHO and will be cleaned up and primed. Self etching primer.

What self-etching primer are you using? Do you have an exotic preference when you do stuff like this or do you just get something "normal"?

Ahh the fun of it all. Under body cleaned in prep for Lizard Skin. Silver is body, tan is Toyota applied, black later on.

The entire underside was soaked with Simple Green then pressure washed. The floor of the shop looked like a beach when done.

My answer is that it does not have to be bare metal. What is left on the underside of this truck is STUCK on there. In my OPINION there is no reason to go through the expense of removing what is left. If this were a full restoration, perhaps but this is not in that category. The Lizard Skin will stick just fin to what is there. All that removing what is left after the scrubbing and pressure washing would do is jack up the customer's bill on labor.

Firewall, underbody and wheel wells mall coated with sound deadening Lizard Skin

Crap, every time I see someone do this I get nostalgic and feeling bad about all the rust and crap under my truck! Boo hoo... keep up the updates. Can't wait to see what's next.

Ahh, the cleaning and painting phase. Tiresome work but the end results are worth it.

I am sure that it is made much easier by the large blasting cabinet in the back! This is going to be rockin!!

This never gets old, LS3 up on the stand ready for front drive assembly.

My neighbor walked in the shop , spots the motor on the stand and says " that right there will get your **** hard"
