Ok I hear people complaining about getting their brakes bled, and all the difficulties and the need of another person, I bought a small garden sprayer, cut the sprayer handle off, got a 3/16 male threaded nipple, took a new MC cap took the one way valve off, got a small hose clamp to clamp the hose on the nipple. I then got 1 1/4 " hose clamp for the MC cap. It works as good as the $70-$90 units . To use it, dump your favorite flavor brake fluid into the tank, connect it to MC tighten the cap with hose clamp, now pump it up no more than 3-5 pumps, go to the caliper you want and crack the, valve . You have to be careful not to over pressurize the, MC you will have a mess, and when you are done with the bleeding release the air from the sprayer, you need a rag when removing the MC cap after the bleed, because it does add a little more than you need. Enjoy your one man rodeo bleed

Excellent setup. Works great.

Put a cheap 1-way valve on the hose you connect to the bleed nipple and and watch it ooze as long as you wish while drinking a beer.

That's cool for a simple, bleed, but if you did a full system overhaul or like took the body off and swapped a diesel, that molasses, bleed would take a week, and the LVP would still have air, this get's it done in a timely manner, and you can flush the whole system

I'm all for these type units.
I've got a reverse of this I bought years ago, came from Griot's - a vac pot that runs off a venturi & your home air.

You can suck any fluid (jokes go here) - even has a poly tube to drop down the dipstick so you can change oil without using the drain plug. --Nice when you have a lowered BMW/other & the filter is far more accessible than the oilpan plug.

My setup was ~$175 for a pot that holds ~1.75 gal --but always up for alternatives--esp if cheaper or more effective!

I spent $15 on my cool kit, I shopped a Homeboy Freight :frown:, but I wanted to go cheap and since it was going to be filled with brake fluid, I shopped there

I love my mitivac, 100$ for the compressed air operated venturi vacuum pump unit. I think it holds like 2gal and they set you up with a tube for pulling vac on brakes but putting pressure to the MC reservoir works better IMO.

Ive used it quite a bit to suck old gasoline out of fuel tanks before cleaning carbs. Works great for everything though really. One of my favorite shop tools, defiitely a neccessity.

This sounds great! I'm having trouble visualizing the garden sprayer part. Can you post pics please?

I agree. I made the exact same apparatus you did. I'm saying I use what I pictured on the brake caliper.

If these gizmos were a good idea, then you would expect that high volume commercial shops would use them, but every shop I worked in used two people (the guy pumping was usually the service manager, so he didn't have to get dirty) to bleed brakes because you got the job done properly in 5 minutes. It takes longer to set up the gizmo. Quit screwing around with gizmos and make some friends who can help, even if you have to buy them beer.

After the zombie apocalypse there won't be anyone else to help me bleed my brakes.

If you over travel when pumping the brake pedal an old master cylinder you could damage it.

Here ya go, I have used the expensive one's and this is equal, I used super glue on the threads for the nipple

Well I learned about these from a high end shop not volume, and using one myself several time it is, convenience, if you need to get it done, and there is nobody there, or you are like me and like to be alone when working on my girl

I see now! Thanks! That's a great idea and I do believe I'll be trying this myself.

I am here to help, I am older and like new ideas, just remember, to not over pressure the system, I like about 4-5 pumps, you feel a little pressure when you do the stroke, of the pump. Oh and enjoy the easy bleed/flush
