SL, thats FUNNY!

I looked this up one time.. Wallaby is smaller/shorter.. more colorful.. shorter ears and nose/snout.. Something about teeth as well , but don't recall the specifics..

J

Like spud says they're just smaller probably like the difference between a white tail deer and a moose one will boomerang off you're bullbar and the other will most likely end up sitting next to you with its head through its a$$hole and mouth full of shattered windscreen.
We can't quite figure out why they call them bullbars, down here they're more like roobars I can't see how you'd hit a bull where as a roo comes out of the scrub at 80km/h straight at you....don't even get me started on drop bears!

Drop bears are a bit like the rabbit in monty Python

Geez, guess I'll pack a helmet and eye protection if I ever have to travel to Australia...all those angry, flying marsupials. No wonder you all drive Land Cruisers, Armageddon isn't just around the corner...it's already here! Guess the only safe place anymore Down Under is in the ocean...oh wait...great white sharks...

This is all fxxxen absolute awesome, I'm nearly wetting myself, and also you know with those drop bears if you actually find a nice cuddly one, they'll end up pissing all over you.

Keep it coming

I was just going to add that while I find these Drop Bears frightful, I think I am more disturbed with the behavior of these kangaroos that Crick60 describes.

I mean, I find it down right disrespectful, after all the hard work that Spud put into the new stereo system, that an Kangaroo would on the one hand feel entitled enough to just jump right into his truck (through the front windshield, nonetheless) and then on the other hand display such contempt by ignoring the new sounds. Talk about avoidance issues. Nothing will ruin a relationship faster...well, except maybe one of the flesh eating Drop Bears...

Then again, this all assuming that Spud has good taste in music!!

Today I decided to fit an 80 series wheel carrier to my 60.

I've been hunting around for a wheel carrier for ages, since my 35's won't fit under the truck.

So I removed the left side rear bumper and cut up a 8mm plate to weld to the chassis and that would become the mounting for the wheel carrier.

This pic shows the plate sitting on the chassis

Next was to simply drop the wheel carrier on top of the steel plate and then weld the wheel carrier to the plate

Welded it all in place,, painted it black and mounted the wheel

All finished

I had to make up a support bracket underneath as it flexed a little too much for my liking.

So all I have to do now is remount the number plate and fit a new number plate light and a indicator, brake and tail light for the left side.

Good work I, Not sure if the chain makes any noise but if it does, swap it out with a coated cable. Is that the factory locking mechanism from an 80?

J
Thanks J

I think it is, but I'm not too confident with it, it appears to lock ok, but when I found it had some wire around it like it was holding it closed, so I'll monitor it closely for a couple of days and see if it slips.

When the bearings get a bit noisey swap them out with 60 wheel bearings if they fit so you have a spare one if you get in a bind.

Also awesome work!

The plain black window seals turned up today for the doors, so I thought I'd make a start, first was all the chrome around the windows, a bit of a pain but it's coming.

LANDCRUISER DONT DO CHROME

I'm all for chrome if it means it's stock. Buuuut I did take the gutter trim off because it was a full blown rust trap, I will put them back on for resale when I liberate this 61 I've been tracking for what seems like years now.
Also I removed the chrome roof racks that were absolute rubbish and a complete AM after thought.
