Orings arrived today so spent the afternoon putting the Ute back together. The pump oring is no longer available but found some old stock in a country Toyota dealer thanks to my local guy.
Made some new holes in my flange bar tooling to hold the balancer while l torqued it too 325 ftlbs, worked well.

Got the farm ute all back together and running. Seems to be quieter than l remember, just took a quick road test before l head off for to work for two weeks. Will give it some good runs when I get back home, hard to compare power when your other car is a turbo 4.5 petrol 80 series😁

The old Tractor seems to be running well and seems a lot smoother driving down the road, would recommend to check the spill timing on your diesel if you never have. A local Landcruiser Club member wants me to have a look at his 2H and show him the procedure. Also noticed the steering has improved since fixing the broken rear spring centre bolt and adjusting the toe in on the wheel alignment. Rear must have been pushing the front around, will definitely be checking the other rear bolt.

Looking to cut the head board off the tray to build a new one as the original is bent. Looking at using 75x50 RHS, not sure what to do with the rusted floor.
Also want to build a dog box on the back so l can take the hounds to the beach etc.
Another one on the wish list is a front bar with a winch. I have a spare M8000 Warn low mount I want to use.
This is the bar l would like to copy.

And here is some mock up options, think I like the winch up higher

Have an old ARB bar on my LX parts rig that has some rust in the lower section. So after trying to get someone to fab a lower bar for it, seems way to hard for people around here🙄, l decided to try and build it like this. After all l have a welder and grinder.

So by cutting the tapered edges I removed a lot of the rust. Really like the look, so measured the angles and started cutting. Then made up some cardboard templates for the rusted sections. New look, templates and the off cuts.

On closer inspection while removing the rusted sections and old repairs it seems the whole lower section has been skinned in thinner gauge metal. So trying to get a quote to get the bumper section redone at the moment which is proving to be a struggle to find someone interested to do the bending in my area.

Decided to sandblast the bar in my make shift 3 man tent blast room, while wearing a proper mask.
Then built up the pitted areas with some weld, we will see how this turns out once it’s all ground up.

Scored some free timber poles from a renovation l’m going to use as fence posts.
People asked whether the Ute could take the weight, she will love it l told them as we loaded it up😉
This is what it looked like when I got home. No dramas with the weight, l did realise the rear springs are suited to large weights as it drove nice with some weight in the back.

So just upgraded to Bilstein (33-185606) 46mm Monotube Shocks last week, and realized the shock was slightly rubbing on the steering as you showed on page 4, we had another LC to check out and realized the steering arm was just bent slightly out of the way of the shock, so that's what we did bent the steering rod. Moving the lower mount didn't even cross our mind., although the next mod is a power steering conversion on my 73.

I'm looking to add power steering and upgrade the suspension down the track to some Bilstein shocks and 75 series leaf springs.
Its hard to find an early 2H pump and correct engine mount but after some research l think a later 2H pump could work with a modified bracket.
Then i have to decide whether to use my factory steering box or 60 series steering box. The 60 box eliminates the steering arm rubbing the shock issue which seems to be an issue with the larger shock bodies. Didn't want to bend the steering arm, but if it works.

Took a break from fencing and got back onto the bar. Cut some new steel for the rusted out sections and welded it in from both sides. Found the extra layer of steel on the main bar had some filler so removed the filler and filled with weld instead.
Lots of grinding to clean the welds back, refilled some small areas l missed with the welder. Turning out better than expected, need to come up with a plan to fit my M8000 warn to the bar but that can happen later.
