Impressed that the HJ47 came to S. Africa with the Power Steering, something that even in Australia did not happen!...

It was an expensive optional extra, just like air-conditioning. Very few local 47's were ordered with these options.

Not convinced power steering was done locally when the vehicles that were completed in Africa. The HJ60s with a 2H had power steering. Would be a stretch to order a power steering off a BJ4X or FJ4X and install it while the vehicle was being finished. I can not find any HJ47 that had a power steering RHD or LHD. That includes the HJ47RP~K3 which is a general market incomplete vehicle with the hand brake on the rear axle.

While I've never owned an HJ47 I did get the transmission out of one. That included the crossmember and L brackets. L brackets are different shape than FJ45. Both otd these the frame is narrower in that location than short and mid wheel 40 series. Sold the HJ brackets a few years ago. Some where on a hard drive have photos of the three styles side by side. One of the long wheel base has little narrower frame than the other. Believe it is the HJ47. All FJ4X and BJ4X share the same skid plate. HJ47 is a different part number.

To hot to drive or work on my beast lately but managed to get it out in the wild for a couple pics.
