It’s that time again..... Cruiser pickin with @CaptClose. We left at 5am this morning to meet up with @azcruizr and pick up a 1965 HDT-45. Sean is passing the torch on this Project and the boys and I couldn’t be more excited to run the last leg of this cruiser resto relay.

@SipLife has been costing my buddies and I quite a bit of money over the past few months. His relentless searching of the Internet has yielded quite a few opportunities that just couldn’t be passed on, and this is one of them.

OMG

The destination is Tucson, AZ. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away by our normal road trip standards. Before we get to Tucson, we are going to make a stop in Amarillo to pick up @POTATO LAUNCHER , as he will be joining us for this adventure.

Stay tuned for another one of our cruiser blogs and follow our journey here...

We got blown into Amarillo before lunch. Good tail wind. Brutus was a clam. Stopped by Casey’s Barn and picked him up. The cruiser pickin circle of trust is complete.

We headed over to Yackster Racing Machine Shop in Amarillo and dropped of Old Landy’s engine block to get some cams knocked in, block hone, new Alfin pistons seated.

Zack has a cool shop. Old School. Solid. Specializes in diesels and race engines. He gave us a lesson in valve cutting and seating.

If ya all need machine work, Zack has the goods. Great cruiser karma to boot @Yackster.

Zack has cam bearing installation kits for any application. Old Landy’s engine is at the right place. Going to pick it up on the way back with Hercules.

Zack works on some big stuff as well. @CaptClose came in handy for scale.

We grabbed lunch at the Taco Villa in Amarillo. The cashier had a few missing teeth and a lisp. Without a MikeTyson-English Google Translator, we would have gone hungry. All is well. Satiated and bloated we motored on toward Tucson.

@CaptClose meal at the Taco Villa did not hold in. Blew his rear main seal. Not fully sure what he had so we covered the bases as best we could. Fingers crossed.

Slow and steady. @CaptClose is leaving parcels. Getting to know the gas stations well. Casey wanted this as a pet.

Stopped by Russels Truck Stop. More parcels.

Spent some time at the car museum. Casey and I took note of the similarity between the Willys Jeep and the FJ40 front axle. Willy’s has closed knuckles. Pitman arm seemed to be more at the center.

Exactly. @Cowboy45 built his go kart and it did remind me of it.

30 mins from Albuquerque. Rear main seal is holding. Making up some time.

These journeys are sometimes look like more fun than the actual Cruiser. Glad to hear @CaptClose had his seal fixed.

Yea man! Bonding like no other. United passion for friendship and cruisers. Life is good. Best times.

Man I wish I was on this trip. Have fun fellas.

Been on a lot of cruiser adventures and have brought my 77 year old mom along on a few. There is no better way to have good conversation, catch up on life, and see the sights. The cruiser is the gold at the end of the rainbow! I sold this 45 to Sean about 10 years ago, It was just a cab and frame. Glad it has found a passionate home and look foward to the finished product. Safe travels and stay away from the tacos!

Maybe that Urgent Care facility behind the taco shop was calling your name. Did you get your nails done?😛

Globe Arizona. If ya driving to Tucson, Hwy 77 of Hollbrook through Snow flake and Globe is magnificent.

I will let @CaptClose ad lib on Snow flake.
