I need your help making decision guys. I found a local Wrecker with a 99 Toyota Land Cruiser with a pristine front end. Left headlight, fenders, Hood. I don't know if I should pull the trigger now or wait until I get my bumpers in to see if the LX Grill interferes with the bumper?

What front end do you guys prefer and why?

Can you provide the number? Curious if they have the rear with diff lock and what price?

This particular vehicle does have lockers in the rear. The vehicle has 200,000 miles on it. The list price is $500.47. Are you located in Florida? There's one in state according to car-parts.com. I'm sure shipping would be quite a bit from ri. Plus the winter salt doesn't help.

The votes are in! Looks like I will be keeping the lx470 front end for now. According to OJ, the bumper will work with the lx hood. I would have to mount their bumper further foward.

A few more goodies came in. Can't wait to finish my move so I can start the build. King springs and super pro 30mm spring spacers straight from Australia! Shipping was super quick. Went out on the 2nd arrived on the 4th.

I received a call yesterday. The bumpers have finally arrived! It's almost been one full year but the wait is finally over. Unfortunately they could not ship it to my door to me as promised. So I decided to rent a U-Haul and make the trip to New York today. I will update you all on the quality of the bumpers once I get a chance to inspect them.

Updates ?

Sorry, no updates. I haven't found any time to work on the project. I tried to install the rear bumpers that day but whoever installed the aftermarket hitch must have tried to remove at some point and spun loose the inner weld nuts. I need to drop off the lx to have new weld nuts installed. Bumpers came in at the worst possible time. We moved into our new house that weekend. I haven't had much time to do anything in between working on the house, work work, and planning for a wedding. Schedule should be clearing up soon. Getting married on the 16th of October. Work slows down fall and winter months. Looking to get some serious work done in the coming months.

Found some time to work on the lx this week. I was not able to have new blind nuts welded in yet. I found a temporary solution though.

Etrailer.com sell these blocks that you can place Inside the frame with a 1/2 carriage bolt.

This allowed me to test fit the rear bumper.

Build quality of the bumper is not bad. It does need some tweaking to fit properly. The bolt holes needed to be enlarged a bit. I wasn't able to install the swing arms today. I did all the prep work this evening. (Assembled the latching mechanism andpressed in bearings) Hopefully I will be able to install them tomorrow .

I was able to mount up almost all the accessories. I was not able to mount a spare. There wasn't enough clearance for the spare tire with the left Jerry can holder mounted. I have to extend the mount for the can a few inches to keep it or remove it all together. Not sure what I want to do yet.
Currently mounted:

- 3 jerry can holder. Plan was for 2 fuel and one water.
-spare tire mount
-ladder
-storage basket for Hilift, ax, shovel, ect

To be mounted:
-2 light poles

re-discovered this...anything new?

Unfortunately I have not had time to work on the vehicle. it's been sitting in my garage collecting dust. Hopefully I find some time this winter to work on it.

Bummer!
...I can take it off your hands and get the dust off of it...:steer:

I was wondering whatever happened to the fellow who was so lucky as to score a free lx470, and here i've re-found your thread. Anything new to report?

Resurrecting an old thread. Any news since the last post?

Thought about this thread the other day. OP was last seen 01 July, maybe there is hope.

Greetings,

I still have the project. Haven't really had much time to work on it. Life's been pretty hectic. My wife and I recently purchased the house with a good size garage. Once the renovations are completed I'm hoping to start working on my cars again. I've also expanded my arsenal of tools with 3D printers, a welder, and a plasma cutter.
