Engine died a couple of times on my first run around town, any help on where to find a rebuild kit would be much appreciated. I saw Man a fre had one, I will call them tommorow to make sure. (Stock, Original 1BBL)

It was good meeting you in Moab. I try to be smarter than I look:D

I buy the Keyster kits for the 66. The air bleeder may not be included and the step up rod may or may not be correct for the 63. I haven't called Toyota on a kit yet.

part number K11-4020A

Need a manual how to rebuild it? ;) http://www.root45.com/tech2.html page 63 chapter 4

Toyota part number 0421160086 $27.81

CARBURETOR KIT

I'll look for the 63 part number as soon as I get home.

Mike, It was a pleasure to put a face to the "treeroot" legend. I feel stupid for expecting you to look like "Gandolph the Great", but you are a wizard of sorts. I am hoping to get the '63 in top notch road worthiness and take it down to the 45 meet.
Thanks for all of your help, (I'm sure I'll need much more)-Bill

the 63 and 66 carbs are not the same are they? 63 had smaller sight glass, 66 has idle selnoid and other stuff. but maybe the kit works for most of the carb.........

I'd send it to mark

The FJ25s all ran the large square site glass. 61-62 used a different part number for the kit. From 63 to 67 I would think they all should be large sight glass without the solenoid. Late 67 to 68 added the electric solenoid. 69 was the round window from what I have seen. I picked up a spare round window early carb and some of the parts can be interchanged. Do you have any parts books that show the cross over between the round window and the square window carbs?

the 66 kipper has had a small sight glass with solenoid.

I guess I should note this is a 40 not a 45 but otherwise stock. I'll look on the carb and see if it has a build tag.

I looked at Bull's 67 LV that we know is stock and he has the round window. My 66 LV, with the square fuel door (66) has the large sight glass. LVs couldbe the bastard children though. Kipper's '66 that used to belong to Wes was stock. The F engine repair manual is printed September 1966 and shows the large sight carb. Is 66 the cross over year?

Pic of what we are talking about for clarification. Everyone likes pics. :D

This is from the Sept 66 repair manual and may confirm that 66 is missing the Aisin logo plate behind the glass. There are 3 types I have seen. Blue Aisin, Grey Aisin (not becase it was stripped off), and no plate.

The blue pics are from Foxfab's sexy 25 project.

I installed carb I got on ebay but had to hang on to it until I got a carb kit for it. The problem I had was the carb was actually dirty....green meldew...dust looking stuff . Everything was in working order just dirty. In removing the the sight glass I ruined the seal. Anyhow that was all I used from the carb kit and squirted carb cleaner and put it back together. I swapped it with a Pontiac 1 brrl carb....go figure yes that was what was under the hood. It ran terrible was the reason I wanted it gone. Yep, it had some old 40 something carb in it. My cousin said it looked like one in his 46 pick up so he ended up taking home. After getting it running my cousin is convinced he should convert his 46 to a Toyota carb as well.

jim C would be a good source of info for you as well. he's doing a carb for me right now. :)

When I asked Jim C. about a rebuild kit for my 64 SD-40 large site glass without solenoid, he told me he'd gotten one from CDan. CDan's in the process of ordering a couple for me now from Toyota. The kit for the SD-40 with solenoid is no longer available, but the older carb kit is still out there. I can post the part number for the kit when I get it.

Used the Keyster kit that treerootCO posted to rebuild my SD-40 off my 61 FJ-40 today. Had most of the parts needed. What it did not have, I cleaned the original.

Have the grey Aisen big window carb.

Also replated most of the linkage hardware.

Fox only did the body, paint, chassis, electrical and a few other things.
The carb was built by... me. ;)

You might try Cruiser Outfitters for a Keyster carb kit.

AFAIK, the float has to come from the dealer. Floats are common failure parts on 1-bbls, as opposed to 2F carbs.

Floats stop floating... that is a bad thing. you can boil the gas out but don't let the water get in and they explode if you have fumes left in them while soldering... don't ask me how I know! (buy a new one.. its safer)

I think Land pimp mentioned on the "fog light" thread that he got the float from Al out of Titus toyota in Tacoma Washington. Try checking there. Good Luck locating one, keep us posted.

Gotta tell ya, just send it to Jim C and have him work his magic on it. Its worth the price of admission.

A few of us 25ers have parts carbs if something is fubar on yours.

70eb, the base of the carb should be the same color green that the dizzy and generator is. :D Sexay lookin carb!

62 site glass

I was rebuilding my carb on my '62 carb an noticed the site glass is broken. Is there anyone with a replacement glass?

Any leads would be great.
