Looking at purchasing a couple 63s...trying to figure out how to address the centered rear differential and transfer case that I assume these trucks will have(62 production dates). I've never seen one in person. I will be installing 4 speeds...just wondering if I need to budget for a new rear axle(offset diff) and a later model transfer case(offset obviously). Kind of intrigued by the 3.36 gear ratios in those early trucks...would be cool to retain that.

Curious if anyone has any insight...figured this would be the best forum to ask on. Thanks in advance....

Do you know they have 3.36 gears in the diffs? Those were a option. Know of only one with them in all the early cruisers I've seen. Not all 62 production cruisers had center rear diffs, it was changed during 62. Have the frame number they switched on the 40 and 45.

I knew there was change over in 62....guess I'll just have to wait until they get here to see what I have. Kind of like being prepared.

I've done the 3 on the tree.....I much prefer the 4 speeds...especially behind a 3FE.
