Help me choose a winch

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a winch purchase and have it narrowed down to two choices: Engo Winch Model E10000S (ENGO USA E10000lbs Winch with Synthetic Winch Line) from MT just down the way from my house or the Runva 11XP-S 11000 lb (Runva 11XP-S 11000 lb 12v Recovery Winch (Built-in Wireless) Synthetic TopGear Package) shipped from Canada.
They have the same warranty, with the Runva being $50 more but also including a cover, remote, and wireless controller. The Runva is very well regarded all over and is also fully sealed, not sure about the Engo.
What's the opinion of the masses?

wow i really like the Runva! do they make a topgear package for the 8000??? Also, I looked up some reviews and they were all pretty positive on them

I'm not sure on the 8000, but for the price why not go with the 11000?
I'm very impressed with the reviews I've read. Canadians love them, and all the reviews from Europe are great.
This is the route I'm going. Although MT is just down the street, the Engo winches just don't have a history yet to rely on.

Hi All:

If you are looking for an electric recovery winch for a 80 Series Land Cruiser you need one rated at least 10K. Your rig weighs ~6K just as it left the factory (add bigger tires, heavy bumpers, etc. for more weight.)

The jury is still out on the long-term quality and reliability of these no name import electric winches. For piece of mind while out getting your rig stuck, I'd go with a quality, known brand, like a Warn, Ramsey, or Superwinch.

Don't mean to highjack but I plan to buy an ARB bumper for my 60 soon and am wondering if I could get by with a 9,000lb winch. I have a Warn M8000 on my ARB bumpered Tacoma that I've been happy with.

Screw warn. Those "no name" winches almost universally carry a better or equal warranty as warn for half the cost.

Well, the deal with sticking with one of the "big three" electric recovery winches is product support.

If a Warn M10,000 has issues, parts can be had from Warn down in . . . . Oregon. SuperWinch USA is in Connecticut, while Ramsey is located in Oklahoma.

Parts are very hard to source for "branded" generic electric winches made in Asia. Sure, they may have an attractive warranty policy, but how does that help you when they have no parts on the shelf?

Can't see it from my house! BLOOD WINCHES. Annual Chinese Factory Deaths: 147,036 and Counting? . A friend of mine ordered 3 of the Engo winches. All 3 winches failed immediately. They will be warrantied I'm sure, but that would piss me off. Let alone knowing that by buying these, you are supporting the worst manufacturing working conditions seen in our world in a few centuries (Jewish slave labor doesn't count).

Once I get my winch "packed" in my ARB bumper, the last thing I want to do is take it out due to reliability/warranty issues. PITA. I am sticking with Warn.

lot's of excellent points already made.

i think mr. jits just wants an opinion on his winch choices. having read the titan winch group buy thread and reading up on great reviews, i jumped on the tw12 as well (looks similar to the runva maybe?). so i can only suggest it, about the same price point as the runva..

anyway, g'luck with your decision mr.jits. i won't go into the debate of the american vs. offshore made stuff...especially on a toyota forum. lol. cheers and happy and safe recoveries to all.

If you are talking about Chinese labor, you basically are not getting away from that with any winch you purchase.

There was a quality control issue (or lack there of). I believe it was due to a keyway being installed incorrectly. The brake locks up when trying to power out. All 3 are being warrantied, as it was a known problem.

just amazing the amount of brands based in the same design that are around there .. would be interesting to see the amp numbers under different ratings for Runva winches ..

It's not nearly the same statement . Toyota has a proven (consumer reports and other reliability testing companies) record behind their quality and reliability. Whereas the only thing a person has to go on with a warn is "buy American" or "because my cousins brothers uncle told me there's no better winch." Warn is regularly losing winch reliability shootouts so like I said, screw warn. I already had talked about warn in another thread, I've narrowed my choices down to to, and am leaning towards the Runva.
I don't care if its internals are the same as another Chinese made brand, because all I've been looking at are the Chinese made winches.
