Heater Hoze redux (1 Viewer)

I've run several searches, but I still haven't come up with a source for the moulded rubber heater hose for my 72 heater. I haven't checked $OR, but I'll do that as a last resort. I did check the local vacuum cleaner shop, but they didn't have anything near the 2" that my heater requires. I also sent an email to Atlas6's web page, but I never got a response. I would like to order his rebuild kit, so if Sean reads this maybe he'll PM me.

Can anybody give me a source for these?

That looks like the same part used on FJ55s and it is unobtainium. If those are split at the seam like mine you can tape them up and they will still work. Someone may have found a substitute over in the 55 section, I would search there.

I just checked $OR... $84 (ouch!). I gotta figger sump'n else out. I'll search the 55 forum and see what's up.

FYI the diameter of the heater nipple those attach to is 58mm. That's 2.28" or close enough to 2 1/4" to not matter. Unless you are restoring, don't worry about the elbows. Find a hose that is very flexible, and just connect it. Try McMaster Carr for hose that size.

This is what I used - FlexForm Dust Collection Hose - Rockler Woodworking Tools. The 2 1/2" worked just fine. I got both sides shipped to my door for $33. I used a couple of hose clamps to keep them on. It was a whole heck of a lot cheaper than SOR.
