Hi all, this website is a fantastic resource. New owner and hoping you can point me in the right direction regarding a couple questions I have before tearing into the recently LX470 this weekend.

1. Will seats from a 1999 also swap into a 2000 and visa versa? (both are heated)
2. Is there a DIY thread or video with photos / instructions on how to remove the headliner for cleaning?
3. Is there a DIY thread or video with photos / instructions on how to remove the carpet for cleaning?

Should I have any spare clips on hand? If so, what kind?

Thanks!

PS I have searched high and low for a video on this. FSM would be great too.

I've never removed headliner in a 100.
Have done it in an Isuzu Trooper to work on moon roof mechanism.
Not hard but time consuming as I had to remove side panels and trim all around.
On the Isuzu Trooper the headliner was a stiffen panel - one rigid piece from front to rear.

I just removed all the interior of my 99 (and installed sound deaden-er throughout) and reinstalled.

The headliner is the very last piece of interior to come out. It requires EVERYTHING else to come out first. You could probably skid a step on some lower panels if you could bend them out of the way, but I wouldn't do that.

It's not terribly hard, just time consuming and likely to cause damage unless you have a set of interior removal tools. The 100 is really nice in that most the panels are held on by plastic clips and everything just pops on/off with an interior trim tool. I only lost/broke a couple clips in the whole ordeal.

The carpet is about the only thing you dont need to remove to get the headliner out... but you need to do the carpet too, so you'll just have everything out, haha.

Get a set of trim tools like this if you don't already have them: https://amzn.to/2NxnbQb

I think with a philips screwdriver, a torx bit (T20 maybe?), a set of trim removal tools and a 14mm and a 10mm wrench you could take apart all of the interior in an afternoon. You'll need a full garage space to store all the panels out of the car. It's a lot of plastic.

bump from the dead. did you need to remove the seats to remove the headliner as well?

Oh god. Do the seats have to come out?

Good. Sheesh! I don't have the room in this apartment for all the seats! Unless I made a movie theater setup... hmmm...

Thanks xD

Could you recommend clips to have on hand and maybe where to source? I about to start on my interior and would like to have as much upfront as possible.

Saw this link on another thread and what I just ordered. In the middle of mine as well and a couple different clips are used and need replacing.

Amazon product ASIN B0B4NWTX37

Any tips on how to get the rear A/C control panel unclipped without breaking it? Seems like it's really snapped in there tight and the few posts I've seen about folks breaking theirs has me hesitant to pry much harder than I have already...really appreciate any advice!

How many square feet of sound dampening panels did you use? And was there enough space for 4mm thickness or should I stick with 2mm? Thanks!

4mm should be fine from what I recall, if that's all you're doing. I did the foil panels, MLV and foam.

If I could go back and redo this, I would just use the all in one products like this:

I spent more $$ and WAAAAAAY more time to get a result that I bet is similar.
