Thanks @Tighe !

As it turns out, LasFit finally restocked those LX extended dust covers. Not sure how long they'll be in stock, but here is the link:

Haha, naturally. I waited probably a year for them to be back in stock. I checked a week or two ago as well. I guess the more options the better!

True that! I ended up pulling the trigger on some standard Silverstar halogens bulbs, go them installed last week, and now these covers are back in stock... oh well.

Ordered! That LasFit tab has been open on my computer for 2 months, had not seen they were in stock. Hikari leds throwing dash light 50% of the time.
Made my day. THANK YOU!

Any one have any experience with diode dynamics SL2 Pro, thinking of getting these for my 09 LX

I found HID to be a bit more effective 'on the road'. It seems like the LED I have tried, while 'brighter' to look directly at, diffuse at distance and drop off sooner. So really bright 10 feet in front of the truck, but not very bright at distance for higher speed visibility. THey were an improvement over the stock halogen though.

I am running the low watt HID, when these bulbs go, I'll be moving up to the high watt HID ballast and bulbs, to get even more distance.

Thanks for you input, which HID your currently running and which one youll be going with ? Could use some recommendations to narrow down my options

Mud makes searching so much easier! Hate how weak the lights are on the new to me LX, this thread saves the day. Wasn't sure if the sealed caps would cause heating issues with the normal LED or HID upgrade.

Ordered the HID @grinchy shared, going to try the 4300k since I have 5000k in the LC and 6000k in the daily and both tire the eyes on long drives. Saw the post for extended seals covers and got those as well just to be safe along with LED high beams and the LED parking light bulbs

You will need the extended dust caps so the headlight moving feature works.
I didn’t do led high beams on mine as they didn’t work with the drl resistor.

Us driver side the ballast is on the frame near the headlight. Us passenger side the ballast is on the flat open area near the power steering reservoir.

My hood area is not stock anymore, so O can’t comment on how hard it would be to install the ballasts to a stock rig. Pretty easy I would think.

Hey Grinchy, to add to this did you stuff the rest of the wiring behind the extended dust cap? Still waiting on those to come in and tried to leave wiring out and AFS acted up since I guess there wasn't enough play for the wires.

Ballast I get won't fit, but guessing you got more of this wiring I have outside of the housing in the dust cap? Also did you cut a slit in the dust cap or just have a gap where the wires are coming out?

The lights I got have a circular grommet on the wires. So you drill that size hole in the extended dust cap, feed only the bulb side connectors thru the hole (it's a tight fit) and then the grommet seals it up. Most of the wiring is outside the 'light container', outsde the dust cap. so you can put the ballast quite far (8-12")? from the dust cap. there is only enough wire to allow slack for afs inside the light container. It's hard to tell from the picture, but those extended caps may not be deep enough? Here are the caps I used.

I'm still on the original dust caps. Waiting on the extended to show up.

That's make perfect sense! Didn't even think about drilling a hole to the size of the grommet all the wires go to

I would get this innovited kit in 55w. I currently have the 35w kit.

I did get the canbus rated item, don’t remember if that was required, it’s been a couple years.

I'm replacing the old (illegal?) Hikari Ultras with these. I had one Hikari burn out - installed since Jan 2020. Not sure if I've installed it correct as it was dark and sleeting last night when I did it, but it is significantly dimmer than the still functioning Hikari Ultra. Is this to be expected?

My two cents.. I also had a Hikari burn out after a failed o-ring let water in. I just replaced with the updated Hikari (Amazon.com - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C7ZT3X8L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) since I , liked the original. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the old "illegal" Hikari and the new edition, brightness-wise.
