Here is how my OEM Brand New headlights coupled with HB3 65W (Hella 9005) low beam looks like. I am very satisfied with the illumination and does not dazzle the oncoming vehicles.

I have posted a thread on how to install the highbeam HB3 65 W bulb into HB4 Low beam holder and wire plug. Its a simple process and cost less than $10 for both sides.

Another evidance to prove how well LandCruisers are built. I installed OEM brand new Headlights into my 3rd gen 4runner and it is not even close to this brightness even with 100W low beams Hella.

Can you post a link to that thread, please? I searched with your handle but didn’t see it. I also have new OEM headlight housings and have been running new HIR bulbs in them, but I’m still not satisfied.

Here you go sir!

Thanks!

any concern about amps through that 20 or 22 gauge wire?

I ran 9011s in the high beam and low beam in my 80 series for 10 years and didn't have any issues. An aftermarket harness probably gives the "best" performance, but is not required.

Not at all. It's all Toyota product! especially a Land Cruiser.
I've been running 100W on low beam on the Hilux that is 31 years old, 65 W on 97 4Runner, 65W on 92 Sprinter (prizm) etc.,
I am not an expert in wiring, but find all aftermarket wires I used to run accessory lights, etc., are failing/rusting etc., but never a Japanese made wire. So when I go to a yard, I pull a wiring harness from a Toyota and use that wire to wire all accessories I install.

How would this compare to a projector retrofit? Obviously there is a large cost difference.

Previously it is 55w, so thats W = V x I gives I, current = 4.58 A. With 65 W, I = 5.41 A. That's less than an Amp so no issues.

Is the first picture the stock bulb? Or is this a low and high beam shots. The HID shot is a low beam from a old Morimoto H1 4.0 the new 8.0 is even better but yes the cost difference is more.

It's almost laughable to say that 22 gauge wire is good for 65watts constant at any expected temp, at any voltage from 12-14, and say-- 6-10 feet round trip length. I do understand that millions get away with it. But it is a compromise.

goood morning lou merry christmas
