Happy Birthday 80!

Eleven years old last week. I forgot so I'm trying to make up for it today. Got a new rear wiper blade. Put it on in the driveway. Took me five minutes. Yep - I'm bad.

No roof rack, tow hitch, rear deflector or running boards from the factory. And those Lexus running boards are coming off as soon as my youngest is a little taller.

That is awesome, I did not know that any 40th Anv. made it to the street without all the add on stuff. Did you special order or just find it that way? If it just did not have the fender flares...IMHO.

Found it, but I looked for two months. Finally caught it coming in for delivery and snatched it. Plan to ditch the flares somewhere down the road - maybe??? I dunno.

Keep the flares until they fall off naturally. Ditch the boards though and replace with step sliders and the can still get in and out.

My 80 is a 97 collector's edition in desert dune metallic with the black pearl emblems. I've decided to change my center caps to the 94/95 black center caps....thought it would match the emblems much better.

PS: Also with no factory roof rack, tow hitch, or running boards!

You don't need new center caps. Just sand and paint with spray paint specifically made for vinyl or plastic. Mine are due for a touch up. Once a year does it.

I know I don't need them....but I think they match the pearl emblems very well. Only the centers are black and it's quite glossy. I'll keep the other set for off road.

Btw, does that 80 of yours have lockers?

That is what I did... MetalTech sliders and a little 3M grip tape. Now management and my three year old are happy.
