My re-gear is going slower than I anticipated on the 45, so I may be without "enthusiast specific" wheels for Sunday. Still waiting on a few parts before setting up the ring and pinions.

I may end up just riding over in the tow rig for an hour or two of entertainment. :steer:

Easy! Knock the end off an old spark plug, screw in a zerk, and pack one of the cylinders with grease. Tadahhh! :hillbilly:

To remove pulleys in the past I've removed a spark plug, gotten the cylinder close to the bottom and filled the cylinder with a small rope, maybe 20' or so. When the cylinder comes up it binds because of the rope and won't rotate any more. Just make sure to pull it out before you try to start it again!

I have heard of that solution for removing a stubborn head. I'd wager it would work great for this application as well.

I can make this event!
I'll be there to help wrench if someone needs a hand.
John or Dave please PM me the address.

I love HAMOM's.

in an effort to provide more resistance while torqueing the bolt , you could put the vehicle in gear. be sure to disconnect the electricals to prevent a runaway if it could somehow fire over....

Doesn't work on an automatic.

Doesn't always work all that well in a standard either. There always seems to be just enough drivetrain slop to keep you from being able to break the nut free or to get a good torque on it to tighten it. I've put them in gear, parking brake, wheels chocked...all that and still been able to turn the crank a half turn or more. It feels kind of like winding up a giant spring of death.

In my 60, when I took that big nut off I wedged a breaker bar into a hole in the frame and hit the starter (coil wire off of course) and that did the trick. When it came time to re-install I just brapped it on with the impact and called it good. I had taken the radiator out so there was plenty of room in there for the air impact.

This weather has me worried. I bought a new mechanics outfit from Eddie Bauer and is in linen, can't get wet. And the new steel toed boots I bought for the event are suede, need to stay dry!

No, it got grease on it. I do have a big container I used for coolant only, to capture the drained fluid., brining that. The caterers should be setting up by noon, food ready by 1. Need a burping funnel? I will throw all I remember in the truck for the radiator job.
