I'm just trying to sort out what you are calling the "h55 rear nose cone" to perhaps offer some help

Can you circle it here?

i’m referring the the black portion on the back of the h55 (i guess it’s not a nose cone. bad terminology). it’s leaking underneath at the junction between the main body of the transmission and the black cover over the 5th gear. where the red arrow is pointing. just the underside of it

Copy. The new H55F's from Toyota are not properly sealed there. Best practice is to remove the 5th gear housing and apply FIPG or some gasket treatment before bolting the t-case on. It takes a few minutes to pull the 5th gear linkage and detent spring/ball but other than that it comes right off.

with it in the truck can i just drop the transfer case and pull off the back of the tranny or do i have to drop the whole transmission to do this?
 
It can be done in the truck with a little bit of added pain.
