I LOVE AHC.
I had very little knowledge about it prior to owning the LX 570
All I remember is it being a hated option ( from my days reading the 100 section ).
Honestly love it, let's say it does go wrong...when? After 15 years +? I will take my chances honestly. Love the way it levels out when fully packed and how it so active. I never realized how active the active part is until I see it adjusting itself with load; etc. Still cool now, imagine back in 1998?

Ride could be better in certain modes - I find firm too firm and soft too soft and normal meh but other than that honestly I prefer it over nothing ( if I were to keep it stock )
I don't know of any other suspension system that independently can vary ride height, spring rate, and damping rates. Airbags are the reverse of ideal - at low height they're soft and at high height they're firmer springs and they also have pretty extreme progressive spring rates. I used them on my 4Runner in a custom setup using GX460 parts. But never really liked the ride quality. The issue is matching damping to match the highly progressive spring rate. Not a good match with progressive shock valving. AHC is pretty remarkable in how it can add or remove chambers to adjust spring rates along with height and damping. It's super complicated though. The only other way I know of to do something similar is by adding a negative air chamber to an air shock like the ORI struts, but the aren't adjustable on the fly.

I'd love to see that system expanded to more models although it appears to be trending the other way.

Nissan Patrol Y63 is coming with a height control system.
If it ends up being an improved version of AHC or atleast the same basic idea. I would expect Toyota to eventually bring it back to some Toyota LC300 grades.

Don't you feel the same is happening with KDSS?
Way more models had kdss before.
Right now only overtrail GX and GR sport LC300?
Far cry from the KDSS hey dey.
The Aussies are pretty pissed that e-kdss is only available on the GR sport and would like it offered on more trim levels.

Sure looks like it. IMO it should be on all Trail Hunter models and optional at least on the TRD OR ones. I actually understand not putting it on most GX models - very few GX buyers have any intention of going offroad. They'd be better served with regular sway bars. But the 4Runners, Tacoma, Sequoia, Tundra - those all would benefit a lot from KDSS. It's not super expensive and seems to have low failure rate. I'd like to see it on all the offroad models at least as an option. And that doesn't seem like a huge ask. Not when Toyota is putting those crazy seats in the Tacoma and factory air bumps (which might both great improvements). KDSS to me feels generally in the same category of excess as those, but offers a lot of value.

I don't think it's possible with the configuration of the sway bar on the new Taco/GX/LC250 being behind the steering arms though, so it probably isn't likely to see a future update. All signs point to it being exclusive to the GR Sport LC300 and the GX Overtrail. That's only a few thousand units per year combined.

The spec sheet verifies fuel capacity (same as 300 series) and thus my earlier range calcs for the GX.

Still awaiting verification that the TH shares this same fuel tank and that 27 mpg combined holds up with EPA; I expect so.

Relative to the 200, the GX's smaller tank and poor efficiency gains yield less range.

At 27 mpg, even equipped with a 14 gallon tank, the turbo hybrid's range would still best that of the GX.

Something doesn’t seem right with the 200 series…my 2014 with the V8 had a range of like 250-280 miles at most…and I drove with a light foot too.

The 2008 LX570 was a 24.6 gal tank. I believe the LC switched to that volume as well by at least 2013. 2020 was also 24.6.

Not that a gallon makes a huge difference.

The 200 reports low fuel with at least 4-5 gallons left in the tank.

Good catch. Thanks. Range reflecting 24.6 gallon fuel capacity (and combined MPG, which is 14 mpg) for the 200 are corrected here. Again, fuel capacity and efficiency values shown for the 250 turbo hybrid are not confirmed.

IIRC the Tundra manual says that the minimum fuel amount is 5.6 gallons (something to the effect of "if the vehicle will not start due to low fuel, make sur it has a minimum of 5.6 gallons in the tank.") IMO that's a lot of gas just to get to "empty". I have the 38 gallon tank in my tundra and get the empty warning with about 8 gallons left. I appreciate conservative warnings, but this is kinda silly.

I can confirm the conservative fuel warning has been a thing for a long time. The fuel light in my 80 flashes up when there's still 20l (5.3 US gallons) in the tank.

What's the point of even building your GX online and sending it to a dealer? Why do they provide 40+ options from wireless charger to ice box, moonroof delete to dog accessories, if you can't even actually choose those things because Lexus doesn't do custom orders?

I just don't know why they offer these as selections to price out a vehicle that will probably never exist statistically.

Many will be added at the port.

I really hope they aren't added by default (I'm looking at your Gulf States). Some of those accessories are pretty cool but no way I'm paying the exorbitant dealer markups.
Got this from Houston dealer this week

The Overtrail Plus configuration will include Smart Key Card, Heads Up Display, Mark Levinson Audio, Power Liftgate, Cool Box and Traffic Jam Assist. Port options will be added to this. Figuring MSRP to total over $85000.

So dumb, who wants a HUD? The power liftgate is actually just the “kick” version, the OT already comes with a power rear door…

I realize maybe people buying a 78k vehicle don’t care, but I think many enthusiasts are going to care about every penny, unfortunately. I see a lot more people driving the 460 as a luxury SUV vice an off-road vehicle, so hopefully the OT trims will be less coveted numbers-wise. Idk, I’m rambling at this point.

We all saw the Lexus factory video, just let me order through Lexus, pay a fee for a custom order, and crank the bad boy out for shipping. I’m sure the answer is “we sell plenty without doing that” so we’ll never see it. Sad 😔

I actually really like driving vehicles with HUDs. I'm notnin the market for an 85k 550 though

I would. I’m old my eyes aren’t great anymore. A HUD makes it easier to keep my eyes up and on the road, rather than glancing down for the speedometer.

That said, I’d probably stop at the Overtrail just due to cost. YMMV.

My car has HUD and it was annoying for about 3 minutes. Now I love it especially when Navigation is displayed. It can be turned off but I never do.

I would assume those that are port installed will be based on paying for them. Those that are added at the factory are a different story so Sliders and HUD are treated differently.
