Cool!

I just ordered the LED rear lights with the smoked tops from eBay.

I'm waiting for this 3 way harness before I order the clear corners and turn lights. I also want to make sure I know what bulbs to buy for the clear corners, turns, and ARB and if LEDs will work.

Sorry for the delay folks. Weekend was a bust due a trip to DE

I have started to take the plugs apart

Indicator plug is being a pain.

I took out the center white piece. Flipped out the inside piece. Still not able to release the pins.

Need to find my smaller pick tool

I made some wire picks using music wire which is available from hobby stores. Can't remember what size though. It's either .035" or .025" or something in between.

Carefully grind the end to a 45deg bevel. And if you've got some dowelling you can make simple handles. Just drill them and glue them in. Or carefully tap them in.

You're on the right track. If you have the EWD, there is a section on removing pins from waterproof connectors. You just need something to lift the little tab that holds the terminal in place, then may have to give the terminal a pretty strong pull to get it loose. A small pair of needle nose pliers or small screwdriver pushing on the front side of the terminal could also do the trick.

I'm trying to see if I can figure out the part number for the replacement connectors and could assemble some for those less inclined to do it themselves.

I put the wires into a bench vise and use that as my 3rd hand.

Of course, this doesn't help if you cannot remove it from the car

I got lost when this went from "plug and play" to requiring special tools.

BR, check out post 216...

A pick tool is a cheap tool, a jeweler's flat point screwdrive would work too.

I will post some pictures

So with the smaller tool I released the last two terminals.

Reinstall the Rubber seal, retainer and then the white insert peice(was the 1sr piece removed)

Thanks Don, smaller tool work like a charm..

Plugged in the harness this evening and it worked like as expected. I will as Gary to change some of the lengths before going live.

The terminal switch was relatively easy once you have a small pick.

I will try to post a video of the signals.

Rhyary, Once i get the lengths corrected by Gary, I will get an update as to when he will start on the ARB setup.

I could ask him to add a pigtail for you connect the ARB wire. Would that be a good option for you??

Thanks
Stu

Just out of curiosity on account that I cannot remember now if this has been brought up...

Are there any concerns about the extra heat generated by the bigger bulb in the side markers and that heat causing any issues like possibly melting the side markers themselves? I know some have had issues for instance with putting in different bulbs in the ARB lights and melting those lenses. My thought is there is plenty of room in the side markers to dissipate the heat from a bigger bulb, but I figured I would ask. Seeing as how others have done this before without the plug-n-play option I'm sure if there were any heat issues it would have been brought up?

 and thanks Stu for keeping this alive!!

AFIK, Its not a bigger bulb. It has 2 elements. The only time you have both on is during signaling with parking light on. So there should be only a little more heat if any.

Other have been doing this with no ill effect.

As for the ARB situation, I can only guess it was a higher watt bulb.

You are welcome corsair23.

Calling arb owners

Trying to determine th best solution for the folks that want to add their ARB Signal to this harness.

Here is the proposed design: And a pigtail(2 wires from the middle of the harness - signal only) to the existing Harness so that you can use you own connector to attach the ARB Harness.

Please let me know you thoughts ASAP as the regular harness should be ready in less that a week.

Thanks in advance
Stu

Stu,
That would be fine with me to add a pig tail for the arb.
Right now it is spliced into the OEM harness.
So it is not like you have an ARB connector that has to be plugged into a socket.

So it the ARB bulb will have to change, or do I keep the ARB as is?
