Ah its stainless steel. Ok, the shiny SS may be a little blingy so maybe sandblast and powder coat? Hmm. I may just grab a couple of these to add to the rear as well.

Ok my wife is demanding that the ARB project gets completed because she is tired of the bumper taking up space in the garage plus she is tired of not having protection for the front. So I guess this project can move forward. I need to gather a few items to be installed on or in the bumper. I have been thinking about mounting the SureFlo pump inside of the wing of the bumper. So I will get that pieced together to make sure there is room for not only the pump but also the routing of the hoses and the wiring.

My issue right now is trying to figure out how best to mount the hose connections for the water input (from a garden hose or external pump) or from an internal tank. There will just be a manual selector valve for this. But the couplings need to be mounted. I could just drill a hole and have the couplers mounted pointed straight up, but thats not very slick. I could just add a vertical mount and have the hose couplers mounted horizontal to the ground. I saw this, even though its on a Heep, but its still kinda slick:

I know its probably been discussed ad naseum but: Roller or Hawse fairlead?

After looking at BOYDMICK's bumper I am now contemplating.

is the water conection for hose meant for shower purposes?

Yepper pepper. Been on my todo list forever. But I intentionally waited until I had a bumper.

Edit: all of our trips we didn't do the shower thing. After the fourth day it's pretty gross. Hated looking for places to shower or even breaking down for a hotel one night just for a shower.

Here is where I am at so far:

For the ARB
• Sureflow Classic RV pump mounted on the inside of the ARB:
http://www.shurflo.com/rv-products/...water-pumps/shurflo-classic-pump/default.html
This is for my onboard shower project that has literally gone no where since I didn't have a bumper yet. Dimensions: 7.84" x 5.0" x 4.62"

• Battery plate mounted to the inside of the ARB:
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/accessories/hd680_545.htm
This is to FINALLY finish the backup battery install. I have an aux battery but its completely separated from the Main. This would be the actual main battery backup. Measurements: 9.5" x 6.25" x 3.1" I guess I should measure the inside of the bumper to see if it will even fit. :bang: - ordered

• Air coupler outlet
To FINALLY finish my OBA system <-- ordering Parker SS, need to figure out the diagram

• Shower couplers
Need to manufacture my own mount I guess but same as the Sureflow above, to finish the damn shower. <-- ordering Parker SS, need to figure out the diagram

• Anderson connector for the jumper cables
This is to move the existing jumper cable I have. I still want to go hydraulic for my eventual winch which means no need for the second plug.

• Shackle mount or Dixon Bates mount
Still trying to decide whether shackle or D.B. would be better. For shackle mounts, weld on or weld thru?

http://www.cutthroat4x4.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=74
http://www.expeditionexchange.com/dixonbate/

• Tabs for limb risers
http://www.trail-gear.com/weld-on-light-bar-tabs Small tabs with a 1/4" hole may be enough -ordered

• Box in the wings for strength

• Fog lights?
I need help here. I hadn't really considered these and I know nothing about them.

• Hi-lift jacking points
Just going to notch these out and maybe reinforce behind them.

• Mounting the air tank
I have the feet on them but it looks like they need to be moved to the very ends of the ARB rail

• Mounting (2) fold down steps
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200330981_200330981 - ordered

I thought it depended on your winch?
Roller=steel cable
Hawse=synthetic

I haven't done my research, but I thought that was how it generally is.

With years of camping in the oz bush - I still don't see the fascination of on board plumbed hot water with all the extra hoses and cutting into the cooling system and then having to run the engine etc.

I've used a solar shower lots of times - just pour a quart or two of heated water from the campfire or stove to get the temp just nice. I've also used a bucket, add cold water and add some hot water as above and then used a cheapo 12V shower pump.

All simple, the bucket is useful to transfer water, do washing up etc, so you need it anyway. All the extra is a solar shower (rolls up small) or a cheapo 12V shower pump.

Even a spray bottle and some soap and a towel (microfiber works great) and you can do a quick de-stink without tons of equipment and wasting gallons of water. A few weeks camping in the oz bush with the nice red dust we have out there and where water is always at a premium and you get creative when it comes to improvising a shower.

Anyhow, onto your ARB. I have an air outlet on mine, an m12000 and under it an air tank from my compressor. I also have a decent d-ring tow point. Oh, the tabs on the ARB are for using with their hi-lift jack mounting point - hey are certainly not meant to be used as tow/recovery points. You can see pics of my air outlet, d-ring mount, airtank etc on my website - link in my url.

cheers,
george.

To me the purpose of the fog lights is to get some light off low and to the sides. The extra turn signal indicator lights on the ARB are a good starting point as they are redundant and the location is good for this kind of light as they are already angled out to the sides and the lights you select could be angled down as needed. You just need yo pick a light - halogen, HID, or LED (depending on your budget) and alter the turn signal holes to allow flush mounting and then weld the mount to the back side of the bumper so you don't have to drill holes and use additional mounting hardware later.

Also, the aux lighting kit from Slee makes the wiring simple.

Yup, just did up a bunch of reading. It can go either way but most people seem to follow that logic. When I do finally install the winch, it will be hydraulic and it will be synthetic rope therefore Hawse may be the way to go. Guess I should add a fairlead to my list. I guess I need to decide who's logo is going to live on it too :flamingo:

I don't disagree. Around here its not so bad. Plus, I will have onboard water with me at all times. Either with the 5gal cans or as the built in unit. I could just as easily do the "whore's bath" with a couple of baby wipes as well. But at the end of the day...a shower is a shower :grinpimp:

I was looking at that. I need to do more research in a hurry. :p

How is the process?

I have to second adding the "T" slots as previously mentioned. I had to use the ridiculous hi-lift adapter the other day...what a pain.

Another thing I thought of was adding a short receiver section (standard 2") somewhere out of sight but easily accessible so you could lock in a little hitch safe. I use mine all the time for my spare keys when I go to the gym/running and I don't want to lug around keys. It is a hassle having to remove the safe when I actually have to use the hitch to pull something.

I actually just talked to DYNOSOAR today about timing. I still have at least three weeks to work out what to do. At issue is how much room, behind the wings, do I have to work with????

How much space can I actually use to mount crap? I need pictures or to see from an ARB mounted on a truck. Is there copious room or is it pretty tight behind the bumper?

I'm ordering the SureFlo pump and the battery bracket so that those can get mounted. WILDYOUTS is working on my new driving light bracket so that's next as well.

I still need to find a good pair of thick ass shackle mounts. Suggestions?

Got the tabs and anchors today. I also got a threaded bung. Not sure what for but it looked I retesting. The anchors are freaking beefy.
