Thanks for all the feedback and advice. I read through a lot of your posting on here to help get the ball rolling on this project.Doing the head gaskets? This engine was pre factory MLS gaskets and will leak coolant if it isn’t already.
I am a tragically slow driver as it is. I barely break 60 in my 4runner and cruise it like it's a ranfla.
I plan on using the mechanical fan. To start I will be using the stock radiator but my back up plan is a Ron Davis radiator.
I am not rebuilding the engine at all at this time because it ran fine when I pulled it. The grand plan is to make it all run and drive then make improvements as necessary. I will also be getting another engine to rebuild after I am done with the swap.
The reason I am going with the Holley is so that I will completely own the drivetrain electrical architecture. This is the third engine swap in a Toyota I have done, and they were all integrated harnesses. Troubleshooting becomes a challenge on the trail because I have to remember what I have done and it is impossible to rely on the FSM because it's not factory.
It also helps that I have a friend that tunes Holley systems.
