still runs and drives, I'm just tired of 9MPG
Drivetrain:
1FZ-A442-HF2A

37" Nitto ridge grapplers
Nitro 5.29 gears
RCV front axle shafts & birfields

Day 1 was deep clean city with the pressure washer. The valve covers had been leaking.

Day 2 consisted of me thinking I would drill out a broken exhaust mainfold bolt. Turned out someone had already broken an easy out in there and not particularly straight. After hours of shenanigans, I got it out and inserted a Heli coil.

Working parts list:

Summit Racing Cast Exhaust Manifolds SUM-G9080
Bottom radiator hose: Gates model 20230
Upper Radiator Hose: Dayco 71989
Trail Blazer shift cable 15785087 "long-ish?"

Day 3: It's raining and FedEx showed up at a decent time.

Installed the following parts. Hopefully they are the right ones. I am using parts for a 2001 Camaro.

Windage tray- GM 12558253
Oil pan- Autotecnica GM1415240
Dipstick tube- Autotecnica GM1417160
Dipstick- Autotecnica GM1417155
Oil pickup- Autotecnica GM1417151
Oil filter- PF46E

The only issue I had was on the forward part of the oil pick up. It required to be adjusted because it was tight on the oil pan. It was no big deal.

Where in NC?

That dirt and tree preview looks like eastern half downhill of RDU.

Love the cruiser! Looks great, but I may be a little bias as mine somehow looks darn similar with the black flares 😂. You will probably want to re gear back to factory 4.10’s to enjoy driving it. Awesome to see more GM swaps happening. I’m planning the 6.2L LT variant myself. Great work 👍

In what way would the 4.10's would be better?

My research is showing that the 4l60e will have a lower 1st gear which is nice for crawling and a taller 4th gear which will keep my RPMs lowe on the highway.

A442
1st Gear: 2.95
2nd Gear: 1.53
3rd Gear: 1.00
OD: .765
Reverse: 2.68

4L60E
1st Gear: 3.06
2nd Gear: 1.63
3rd Gear: 1.00
4th Gear: .70
Reverse: 2.29

I run the same motor/trans and diff gear set up as you. It’s a little over geared at Hwy speed like it is with the 1FZ, but very tolerable. I’m around 2600 or so at 75.

Ill be fallowing along. Thanks for sharing part numbers and so much other info. Id like to do this swap next year if I have time and $.

75!! You're a wild man driving these toasters on wheels that fast. I'll roll 65 top end. I've accepted that it was never made to go fast. Out west it was exciting getting my doors blown off my 60k pound semi trucks. Thanks for input.

The Internet is full of 4l60e haters but has yours been reliable? I plan on installing a Corvette servo.

Hopefully I don't lead you down the wrong path with the part numbers. I read the v8 swap thread from 2019 to present and snagged as many pn's as I could.

I also don't have the time and money but oh well.

Hahaha not many people these days have the time or money 😢 but we do irresponsible things anyways for fun.
I'm doing a very very slow LS based build on an old Jeep right now, so I am already familiar with a lot of LS stuff. I'm interested to see how you integrate the Holley Terminator system. Are you going to use one of their digital dashes, or keep the factory instrumentation?
Honestly I've been thinking of giving up on the Jeep build and just transferring all the LS parts over to the 80 series, but I've put so much time and money into the Jeep I cant justify giving up on it. I kind of bit off more than I have time to chew with that project. Its an '82 postal Jeep that I'm converting to 4x4 with Cherokee axles. Haven't worked on it much this year at all.

Man the internet is full of haters in general. I've heard the same things about the 4L80 too. I think a lot of it is people that don't get their trans rebuilt or upgraded for hard use, and then wine about how s*** it is when they destroy it.

Postal jeeps are awesome. Don't give up. Flip side is that they have value, and can be sold to buy more Land Cruiser parts......

I do not plan on integrating the Holley system at all into the factory Toyota harness. To start I am just going to use the 3.5" display it comes with and maybe down the road get the bigger one. For the factory gauges I can run speedometer, RPM, volts and fuel somewhat easily. For oil pressure and coolant, I will leave the engine harness ends but don't have immediate plans to make them functional. I am already using a by numbers aux coolant gauge because it seems the factory gauge stays in the middle with temps ranging from 180-210 which is fine if you're driving the kids to soccer practice in 1995.

I can’t picture you having this same sentiment after the swap. I cruise the interstate at an easy 80mph. 4.88s though.

The 4l60 is perfect in a 80. I put the same exact combo (from the same donor) in my 80 7years/100k miles ago. I’d I had to do it again I would still choose the 4l60.

Personally, I would use the factory ECM in this swap, but that’s just me.

IMO most of the hate on the 60 comes from Camaro owners with 200shot of nitrous hitting 3rd gear with their foot to the floor. Very basic mods and good cooler make it just fine. I regularly tow boats and trailers with mine also.
