Why are you getting such low gas mileage? Seems like what you have is lighter than a full 80 series which don't get great, but should be getting at least 12-14!

My opinion is stated in my sig

Same reason I need more power... heavy right foot...:)

Oh, gotcha! :hillbilly:

Well, i think we need about two or three for a total order, why not jump in and you and I can complete the turbo manifold order from landtank. Turbo that bad boy and get the power you want!! :wrench:

UZ

2uz is a better choice.

Really dont wanna talk my s*** here, but a first gen 1UZ is a good start, and well known basis for more:). Will show this sooner or later in your neigborhood.

By the way, this 4O makes me jalous, like hell.
God craftmanship. God ideas. Jaaalouus.

Dude, this is such a sweet rig, wish I had a chance to go for a spin with you in this today, maybe when I'm back down ?, looking forward to getting my work done by you guys, fabulous place you have and spectacular workmanship throughout the shop, go IPOR

I'd drop the lt1 in. the torque in the lt1 feels nice compared to the 6.0s in my opinion. lq4s/lq9s haul ass but you do have to get it up above 3k to really feel it. lq4s are good turbo builds or good all around swaps but the lt1s makes the torque really low and since you have it it would really get that thing moving.

325 at 2400 rpm's LT1
335 at 4500 rpm's LS1

the lq4 is something like 4300rpms for peak torque.

Good feedback. I'm having a little trouble coming to terms with putting the v8 into the FZJ40. I do want more power but it just doesn't seem right for this build.

I ordered a toybox from Marlin yesterday to mate the 4L60e to a 19 spline split tcase. I'm going to put the corvette motor into my buggy instead.

Thanks for the input.

Ever driven a car with a 1uz? Laaaaaazzzzzzzzy on the bottom end, def not suited for truck use.

bit late here but X2 2UZ all the way .. get some work done in the head and valves .. and run it !

The choice seems obvious to me....

I like the intercooler for the screw!

This pic looks like the hard sides fit perfectly. Did you have to extend the hard sides and roof to fit the 104" wheelbase?

What was the belly height?

In this picture you can see the front of the truck with radiator, condenser, trans cooler, power steering cooler, radiator hoop, factory grille and emblem all installed. The radiator hoop isn't visible with the hood closed - it's tucked up above the opening at the bottom of the hood.

Yes. The hard top is made up of the front half of an early 40 top with long window and the rear of a late 40 top with the pop-out vent windows. I still haven't done body and paint on the hard top - I didn't run it at all last winter, just put on an extra layer...

I didn't drive it today but the frame should be about 19.5" off the ground. (just measured an 80 here with the same springs and added for the larger tires on the 40) It has an extremely low COG and is very stable off road.
