I see these advertised but am unable to find a matching schematic. No headlight fuse. Anyone know when/where these are used?

I'd be thermoforming one out of a piece of plastic and pasting on a printed label. The cover is to protect from shorts, you can just look at the fuse to see what's blown.

I ended up ordering the fuse box from City Racer. The pictures on the web site look good but this is what I received. The tabs are not shaped correctly and the fuses don't sit level.

And the extra tabs for the heater and lighter are on the wrong fuses so the A/C power connections cannot be made.

The picture on the web site shows them correctly.

The two clips are different and not made to work together. One is taller.

It looks nice but is functionally no good. I was told I have to pay to send it back for a refund.

Mine were not like that when I purchased them, I used 2 of them to add additional items when I remade my entire harness. The fuses were even and fit great! Have had no issues since finishing the rebuild.

I ran into similar incompatibility issues with the labeling and pinout of aftermarket fuse blocks for my 79 FJ40. I finally found a solid unit that I could rely on and went from there.

I found it more important to match my wiring to the correct wiring diagram for my year (compliments of Coolerman's site). And then make the aftermarket fuse block reflect that.

This required some piggybacking (2-1 spade connectors) on the load side and an entire relabeling of the cover to match the schematic.

It works for now, to keep my wiring straight during debug and rewiring, but I need to figure out a better way to make a label that will adhere to that aftermarket plastic cover.

you got lucky I guess, what I don't understand is if you are making such a drastic change to your harness like that, why would you cling to 50 year old fuse technology?

@Engineer8000 - CityRacer is a good shop and will likely stand behind your defective fuseblock and send you another one if you ask. I've had excellent customer service from them. Won't hurt to ask.

Why? The main harness was duplicated and the additions just laid in on top and wrapped in together. 50 years and they still work great, lol. I guess I could have moved things under the hood like in the new cars, but that would have taken more time to layout the harness and fingers crossed it worked after everything was together. Just doing this took a few weeks working on it in the evenings. Maybe do the next project differently, I learn so much seeing what others do here...what an amazing place!

CityRacer is great! Always follows up!
