l took the Ute to the garage today to get the UJ replaced & rear diff seal sorted, the rear diff seal leak has been done, its the front prop slapping about at the middle seam, so its a new prop if l can get 1...or a 2nd hand replacement (which l've found) & a new front diff seal as its now leaking. Out of curiosity, do you folks have any suggestions for suppliers of new props who'll ship to the UK... ?

Thanks..

Model Market Year required when asking for help. So are the splines wore out in the slip joint? Your shop should have had some suggestions.

Actually, AFAIK the oem Toyota FJ splines are not , Contact CruiserTeq ( Cruiser Outfitters ) , and/or Georg at Valley Hybrids/Cruiser Brothers, they can help and may know of suppliers closer to you.

No clue if it fits or if they would ship overseas but I'm sure you could find something to be welded in. Search for a local driveline shop, they will have the tooling to do the work and likely can source the parts you need.

Thanks, l've emailed cruiser teq, as they've an 8' drive shaft & kit listed and gave them info they requested. l'll see what they say... there's some drive shaft specialists listed online down south (England) so after further research l've options.. l'll see how it pans out..

If shipping is crazy, you could try Matzell on this board, IIRC he has built a 70 series ultra4 style racer and he is on the island I think. His thread is in Hardcore section.

Our UJ35050 kit is a great and popular way to solve slip-joint issues. However, the included flange is 60 x 60 mm Pattern w/ 10mm Bolt Hole pattern so if you don't already have that pattern (which an 84 HJ47 will not), you'll need to re-drill your flange (if round) or use our PN60040 as detailed here:

Its a complete shaft...box > front diff.. so far every part the supplier has sent me has fitted. They've got my ute details if its not as l hoped l can always return it. btw..l'm also getting a repair kit for the existing prop so l have a spare from elsewhere, l'll suss that out when it arrives.

Question: owned my FJ40 since 03/2024. Shackle reversal has been done by Prev owner per son drove off road allot. Looking at my front drive shaft - it appears to me that in city driving uses the full collapsible length. Would the UJ35050 buy me more room.

I think I have a factory front drive shaft - non moving portion of that shaft is approx 17”

Yes, the UJ35050 has ~double the travel available from a standard Toyota driveshaft offering and is commonly used in shackle reversal applications as the arc of the axle travel often requires more travel than the standard shaft can comfortably run. I run the same long travel setup on the front of my SOA/SR FJ40.
